Happy Thanksgiving 2015

Trophy3_Nevada

There is much for the University of Hawai’i basketball team to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, even while spending the holiday in Lubbock, Texas, instead of Honolulu.

The Warriors are off to a 4-0 start, remain relatively healthy, and appear to be on a continued growth pattern under first-year head coach Eran Ganot.

“I’m really thankful for the fact that I’m able to play basketball with my teammates and that we started the season very good, and that we hopefully are going to continue playing really good and maybe win the next game,” junior center Stefan Jovanovic said.

That next game is scheduled for Saturday at Texas Tech (11 a.m. Hawai’i time). It will be televised on Fox Sports Prime Ticket (Oceanic channels 228 and 1228).

The Warriors departed Honolulu on Wednesday evening, and are planning to have Thanksgiving dinner as a team on Thursday.

It is the team’s first and only non-conference road trip of the regular-season. Eight more road games will follow in the Big West Conference.

    Some Day Soon…
i Hope i Hear A Graduating (OR Later, NBA? Next Delladova?) Fleming saying that staying In Hawai’i
However Hard, Was One of the Best Decisions of His Life!

  9. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Gobble that turkey and have your fill.

Thankful for these talented young men playing for Hawaii.

  10. Road Warriors must have left the island. Good luck. Like the core training Fleming doing the two wheeler.

  11. UC Irvine lost to Boise St. 71-64 yesterday in a tournament at Fullerton. Mike Best, 2 pts,3 rebounds; Mamadou, 4 pts. 1 rb; 7-2 Dimakoupoulos 10 pts, 5 rb.

  12. Even the ‘eaters’ got to eat Thanksgiving dinner.
Hard to play on a full stomach.

Probably didn’t leave anything for the ants.

  13. Big weekend coming up: Warriors beat Texas Tech, UH football wins season finale, Wahine upset South Carolina, and Matlin names Chow’s successor. How many of the four will come true?

  14. Ferd Lewis ‏@FerdLewis 5 hours ago

UH is a Vegas consensus 4-point favorite over Louisiana-Monroe in football & 6.5-point underdog to Texas Tech in hoops.

  15. 7.5 pt underdog now to Texas Tech.

  16. Not surprised by the odds, but thanks islandman.

Final: South Carolina 60, ASU 58. Closer than expected? Isn’t South Carolina ranked No. 2?

  17. Rolovich new HC for football.

  18. Wow … that was fast. Looks like Matlin got whom he wanted; the easy choice would have been JJ. Next up: who will be on Rolo’s staff.
Wahine lead at the half, 32-24.

  19. Rolovich?

Looks like Matlin used the same hiring philosophy with Rolovich as he did with Eran Ganot. Young, unproven head coaching experience, energetic, loyal to the Hawaii program, well-mentored, and inexpensive. Curious to see who he hires to fill out his staff for next year.
