Welcome back, Joston

After what amounted to a one-game absence for personal reasons, Joston Thomas returned to practice with the Hawaii basketball team on Tuesday.

Thomas, a sophomore starting forward, missed practices last week, and did not travel with the team for the road game at UC Davis on Saturday.

“Everything’s OK, I’m back,” Thomas said. “It’s like I never left. We’re going to hit the ground running. We’re back at home, we got two more home games and then we’re off to the WAC Tournament.”

The Warriors will play their final two home games of the regular season this week – Louisiana Tech on Thursday, then New Mexico State on Saturday.

Thomas is expected to be in uniform for both games, although his role has yet to be determined.

Thomas ranks third on the team for both scoring and rebounding with 10.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

He declined to elaborate on the reason for his absence, other than to say that it was “personal problems” and “we got through it.”

  1. Great……now let’s see what positive attitude and renewed energy he brings to the team. His scoring and rebounding will help the team and if he can improve on his turnovers that would be even better. With tournament time coming up, I would think UH could the depth so mo’ tired legs.
