New shoes

The future looks bright for the Hawaii basketball team. So does the team’s new shoes.

The Warriors unveiled some new bright-green shoes, courtesy of adidas, during Friday’s practice.

Whether they wear the shoes for the home finale against New Mexico State on Saturday night remains to be seen.

“I don’t know,” head coach Gib Arnold said. “They look like they’d match better with our road (jerseys).”

But the players seemed to like the new shoes, and seniors Bill Amis and Douglas Kurtz said they’d be willing to lace up the bright-greens for their final home game.

“Maybe we can do just the seniors wear them,” Amis said. “It’s pretty loud.”
