Tickets still available for Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser event

Hawai’i fans still have an opportunity to donate to a worthy cause, and meet and greet several basketball coaches, at a Coaches vs. Cancer fundraising evening event on Wednesday, December 20, in Waikiki.

UH head coach Eran Ganot, Hall of Fame coach Mike Montgomery (former coach at Cal, Stanford, Montana, Golden State Warriors), and several coaches from the teams in this year’s Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic will be in attendance. This year’s field features Akron, Davidson, Miami, Middle Tennessee, Princeton, New Mexico State, USC and host Hawai’i.

The fundraising event is scheduled to run from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at The Reef Bar and Grill in the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Hotel. Food and drinks will be served, and the “Hoops Talk” radio show will be broadcasting live on ESPN 1420 AM at the site.

Tickets are $100 per person, with proceeds to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Ganot is one of 30 members on the national leadership team for the Coaches vs. Cancer Council. Last year’s fundraiser in Hawai’i raised close to $10,000.
