Meet the Warriors: Rob Jones
Another newcomer to the 2022-23 University of Hawai’i basketball program is assistant coach Rob Jones.

While he might be an unfamiliar name and face to Rainbow Warrior fans, he is certainly well known to head coach Eran Ganot.
Jones was a two-time all-conference player as a 6-foot-5 forward at Saint Mary’s from 2010-12. Ganot was an assistant coach for the Gaels during those years.
More recently, Jones was an assistant coach at UC Riverside – one of UH’s rival opponents in the Big West Conference.
“Me and (Ganot) go way back,” Jones said. “We’ve been in the trenches together and won a lot of big games. But I actually coached against the University of Hawai’i last year at UC Riverside. We went 1 and 1, and I think he saw my talents and thought I was pretty good as a player and now me developing as a coach. He wanted me on staff and hopefully I can bring all I can to help these guys win.”
Jones was hired in mid-August, after most of the summer workouts were complete. He said his familiarity with Ganot – and some of the Hawai’i players through his past scouting – has helped him adjust quickly.
“A lot of the core values of family and respect and doing your work, all that kind of stuff, made it a seamless for me to transition,” he said. “We got a lot of good kids and the staff is great so it’s been no problem for me and my family moving from Riverside to Honolulu.”
Jones and his wife, Nicole, have a daughter (Skye) who will celebrate her 1st birthday in November.
