Meet the Warriors: Mor Seck

One of the most intriguing newcomers on the University of Hawai’i basketball team’s 2022-23 roster is freshman Mor Seck. Being 7-feet tall and coming all the way from Senegal might have something to do with it.
Seck, who is listed at 7-1 and 230 pounds, signed with the Rainbow Warriors in late April and will be a true freshman this season. He was born and raised in Ngayene Daour, Senegal, and came to the United States in 2018 to pursue basketball.
His first year of high school basketball was in Florida, then he moved to Northern California. He played last season at Prolific Prep, one of the nation’s premier prep basketball programs located in Napa, Calif. He averaged 10.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots per game last season.
“I love Hawai’i,” he said. “Hawai’i is pretty nice and they have nice people around here. I like the basketball team and I like everyone around me.”
Seck is the tallest player on this season’s team, and perhaps the only one considered to be a “true center.” And yes, his size has been noticeable on the Manoa campus this semester.
“Wherever I go, people ask how tall am I,” he said. “This is cool because people care.”
His full name is Elhadji Mor Seck and he speaks three languages – Wolof, French and English.
