Video interview: Eran Ganot shares thoughts on the Big West cancellations

On a historic day for all of sports, the University of Hawai’i basketball team went through a full gamut of emotions.
While eating breakfast in preparation for what was supposed to be a quarterfinal game against UC Davis in Anaheim, Calif., the Rainbow Warriors received the news that the entire Big West Conference Championship Tournament was cancelled.
Later in the day, the entire NCAA Championship Tournament was cancelled for the first time in its 82-year history. The cancellations were part of nationwide precautions over continued and growing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.
After receiving the news of the Big West Tournament cancellation, the UH team made arrangements to return to Honolulu. Most of the coaches and players were expected to arrive in Honolulu on Thursday evening. Some of the players who are from California opted to remain with family, and will return to Honolulu later.
