Three Warriors receive academic honors

Three University of Hawai’i basketball players earned academic all-conference honors this week. Samuta Avea, Mate Colina and Zigmars Raimo were among the 13 players named to the Big West Conference Academic All-Conference Team for men’s basketball.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes have to maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, have attained a sophomore standing academically and competed in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.

Avea, Colina and Raimo will return as Rainbow Warriors for the upcoming 2019-20 season. Hawai’i and CSUN tied for the conference lead with each team landing three players on the All-Academic team.
