HONOLULU – Fans will be able to get their first live look at the 2018-19 University of Hawai’i men’s basketball team when the Rainbow Warriors hold their annual Green & White scrimmage on Friday, Oct. 19 at the Stan Sheriff Center. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. and admission is free.

Arena gates open at 5:00 p.m. as fans will have the chance to watch the team go through practice, before a controlled scrimmage with multiple periods of varying lengths. Different lineup combinations will be on the floor as players will change teams throughout the evening.

Following the scrimmage, the team will hold an autograph session on the arena concourse. UH men’s basketball posters will be available for fans.

UH welcomes back four key returnees from last year, including Big West Hustle Player of the Year Sheriff Drammeh and Big West Sixth Player of the Year Jack Purchase. Backcourt mates Drew Buggs and Brocke Stepteau also return. The Rainbow Warrior newcomers are highlighted by junior college sharpshooter Eddie Stansberry and a trio of 7-footers in freshmen Dawson Carper, Mate Colina, and Owen Hulland.

The Rainbow Warriors will host Hawai’i Pacific at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 in an exhibition game before officially opening its regular-season on Friday, Nov. 9 versus Portland in the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic.

Last week I emailed the athletic director’s office asking why they hidden put up a schedule or a current roster of players. NO ANSWER. Can’t tell you how disappointed I am UH. And why is it at 5pm? Nothing going on latter on. Guess they want to keep the turn out low to match their pathetic football attendance.

  2. Just noticed both roster and schedule are now posted. Better late than never. Poor performance. I am sure the team will do better.

  3. I hope they post full game video … Maybe get some practice taking the video and posting it before the real season starts. … But any video at all is appreciated.

  4. The UH site had the roster up in July before the Australian trip and the schedule was posted in August.
Warrior Insiderposted about the new schedule on August 15 and also introduced the roster on Sept 27 with a video.
HoopsTalk is on radio 1420 tonight at 7 pm.
