The 2018 Down Under Tour is fast approaching
For a trip to Australia, perhaps it is best to listen to … an actual Australian?
The University of Hawai’i basketball team happens to have three Australians on its roster for the historic “2018 Down Under Tour” that is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 8. It is the first time the UH basketball program is making a trip to Australia.
Jack Purchase, Mate Colina and Owen Hulland each call Australia home. Purchase and Colina are from Melbourne (which is one of the cities on the tour), and Hulland is from Adelaide.
The 10-day tour will include four exhibition games …
August 11: vs. Brisbane Bullets at St. John Pidgeon Sports Complex in Brisbane
August 13: vs. Melbourne Tigers at Veneto Club in Melbourne
August 15: vs. Centre of Excellence at Australia Institute of Sport in Canberra
August 17: vs. Sydney Kings at Abbotsleigh College in Sydney
Purchase, Colin and Hulland are familiar with the four cities on the tour, and they share some thoughts in the video above.
In addition to the exhibition games, there will be time for cultural/educational experiences. Purchase noted that the team is scheduled to watch an Australian Rules Football Game in Melbourne.
The three Australians also said they plan to introduce some Australian foods to their teammates. In particular, meat pies and vegemite.
Good tour guides and promoters.
Is the only coverage down under going to be from the UH media people ?
Nice interviews … too bad you can’t join ’em!
