The 2018-19 schedule is announced
A November road trip to California will include two games against Pac-12 opponents for the University of Hawai’i basketball team.
A road game at UCLA on November 28, and a previously-announced game against Utah on the opening day of the Wooden Legacy tournament are among the highlights on the 2018-19 schedule for the Rainbow Warriors.
The 30-game regular-season schedule was announced on Wednesday via www.hawaiiathletics.com.
The three-day (November 22, 23 and 25) schedule for the Wooden Legacy at Fullerton, Calif., was announced last month. The Warriors are expected to stay in Southern California after that to play UCLA at storied Pauley Pavilion on November 28.
The Warriors will open the regular season with three games on three consecutive nights as part of the Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic: November 9 against Portland, November 10 against Humboldt State, and November 11 against North Texas.
Prior to that is an exhibition game against Hawai’i Pacific on November 2.
Other non-conference home games on the schedule: November 18 vs. Northern Arizona, December 8 vs. Hawai’i-Hilo, December 16 vs. Mississippi Valley State, three games in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic on December 22, 23 and 25, and then vs. Alabama A&M on December 29.
The 16-game Big West Conference season is set to start on January 7.
Arkansas Pine-Bluff is not on the schedule this year. They ended up as the #1 seed in the 2018 SWAC tournament .
Instead UH will be playing:
Mississippi Valley State, 4-28 and 4-14 or 9th place out of the 10 teams in the SWAC
and Alabama A & M, 3-28,3-15, last place in the SWAC last season.
The SWAC was ranked #32 and the Big West #22 last season.
