UC Riverside stuns Warriors, 64-60

Chance Murray scored 16 points and Menno Dijkstra added 15 points tonight to help visiting UC Riverside stun Hawai’i, 64-60, in Big West Conference men’s basketball action.

A crowd of about 4,800 at the Stan Sheriff Center watched the last-place Highlanders improve to 6-17 overall and notch their first league victory against eight losses.

Mike Thomas scored 18 points, Brocke Stepteau added 11 points and Jack Purchase contributed 10 rebounds for Warriors, who fell to 13-9 and 4-5 with their fourth straight loss.

UH led for much of the second half until Murray drained a 3-pointer with 2:28 remaining to put UC Riverside ahead, 55-53. The Warriors closed to 62-60 on Stepteau’s 3-pointer from the left wing with seven seconds remaining, but Dijkstra sealed the victory with two free throws one second later.

More details, including video highlights and interviews, will be posted later.

  1. The Warriors played their worse game of the year. Unfortunately, it was also the worst officiated game of the year as well. That one blatantly obvious goal-tend gets called and it’s an entirely different game. So many other missed calls, including Brock getting knocked down on that 3 that wasn’t called. They will get right against CSUN, especially if it’s a different officiating crew. Let’s GO BOWS!!!!

  2. When warriors lost 4 bwc games in a row and 2 of them at home SSC!??
