Warriors move closer to first in Big West

The University of Hawai’i basketball team moved closer to first place in the Big West Conference without even playing a game on Wednesday.

The entire race for the top of the standings got a lot closer thanks to UC Santa Barbara’s 83-64 victory over previously undefeated Cal State Fullerton. UCSB was coming off a 77-76 loss at Hawai’i on Saturday.

The Titans are still in first place at 4-1, but Hawai’i and UC Davis are now just a half-game behind at 3-1.

The Rainbow Warriors host UC Davis on Saturday night. That game could be for first place, pending the outcome of another Saturday game – Cal State Fullerton at Long Beach State.

UC Davis moved into a tie for second place with an 84-75 win over Long Beach State on Wednesday. Long Beach is now in fourth place at 3-2.
