Smiths meet up in Luxembourg

j-and-q

Proof that basketball ties can cross many borders came last week, when former University of Hawai’i guard Quincy Smith and former Director of Basketball Operations Jamie Smith greeted each other in Luxembourg.

Quincy recently signed a professional contract with Telstar Hesperange, a team in Luxembourg’s N2 league.

Jamie is on the coaching staff for Great Britain’s national team. Great Britain was in Luxembourg City to play Luxembourg in a FIBA Eurobasket 2017 qualifying game. Quincy now lives near the arena, and made it to the game to see Jamie.

Quincy’s pro team is scheduled to start its season in two weeks.

  1. Thanks Jamie and Q for Many of The Best Positives in The Roller Coaster Ride of the Last Three Years…

Best of Luck, Life and Success to The ‘Ohana in Luxembourg, Britain, Europe and Abroad !

  2. Great picture !!

  3. Q is my most-improved player for last season.

Now looking lean & mean for his professional job!

This year’s Rainbow Warriors worked hard like him… Might surprise us, too!

  4. Yes Quincy definitely took his game to another notch. Just goes to show what hard work and dedication can do—playing pro ball and enjoying the fruits of the success. Really happy for Quincy. He will go far in life. And great for Jamie too landing a job in Great Britain. Congratulations to all.

As for the Miami Heat/Chris Bosh saga his salary vs health is the issue. Too much money involved to keep him on his remaining 70 million salary. That’s where Jankovic comes in. Insurance in case they don’t clear Bosh to play. But Janks will still be a reserve player used as a stretch 5, set picks and knock down open 3s. It’s wait and see if Janks defense will come around and mesh with Miami. Multi year contract waiting if it does.

  5. That’s a great story and an awesome picture. Best of luck to Q and Jamie!

  6. This picture was taken for the Hawaii fans. Must be good luck for the upcoming season ! Win Bows, Win !!
    Go Bows !

  7. Basketball practice begins Sept 30 .
