Drammeh, Raimo complete play at European tournament
Two University of Hawai’i players wrapped up play over the weekend in the FIBA U20 European Championship at Helsinki, Finland.
Incoming freshman forward Zigmars Raimo played a reserve role for Latvia, which finished in sixth place in the 16-team tournament for players age 20 and younger. He averaged 3.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.
Sweden, led by UH sophomore guard Sheriff Drammeh, finished in 10th place. Drammeh averaged team-highs of 17.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in the tournament. He did not play in Sweden’s final two games of the tournament.

SUMMER LEAGUE PLAYOFFS UNDERWAY
National Fire Protection Co. picked the right time to score its first victory of the season in a 99-90 upset of Grantco Pacific in the opening round of the playoffs for the Hawaii College Basketball Summer League at Maryknoll School Gym.
National Fire Protection went 0-9 in the regular season, but advanced to the semifinals with the win over Grantco Pacific.
Alejandro Pardi (former Chaminade player) and Nick Velasquez (Punahou graduate) each scored 24 points in the win for National Fire Protection. Joshua Burnett scored 25 points for Grantco Pacific, which finished the season with a 5-5 record.
In Monday’s other playoff game, Wealth Strategy Partners defeated Clark Hatch Fitness, 98-91. Chauncey Orr (former Hawai’i Pacific player) scored 39 points to lead Wealth Strategy to the semifinals.
The semifinal games are scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Maryknoll School. The championship is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
