Serbollywood Productions and more
First, thank you to everyone who suggested titles for the Hawai’i basketball team’s new road video series — led by Stefan Jankovic – for WarriorInsider.com.
After considering the various options suggested earlier in the week, Jankovic decided to go with something different: “Serbollywood Productions.” He has agreed to serve as the main camera operator, with assistance from teammate Sai Tummala, for upcoming road trips.
The above video features more behind-the-scenes clips from the Warriors’ road trip to UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton last week. Some of the highlights include freshman Sheriff Drammeh taking a turn behind the camera to interview Jankovic about a pet dog, Isaac Fleming caught dancing on camera, and a birthday song for assistant coach Adam Jacobsen.

TAYLOR HIRED AS ASSISTANT AT SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE
Former University of Hawai’i head coach Benjy Taylor was officially hired as an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State on Thursday.
Taylor was the interim head coach at Hawai’i during the tumultuous 2014-15 season, and guided the Warriors to a 22-13 record, including a runner-up finish in the Big West Conference Tournament. He was also an associate coach and assistant coach at UH for four seasons under Gib Arnold.
He will now join the staff of Rick Ray, who is in his first season as head coach at Southeast Missouri. Taylor replaces an assistant coach who was fired in November for a violation of university policies.
“I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity to join the Southeast Missouri State Basketball Family,” Taylor said in a press release from Southeast Missouri State. “Coach Ray is one of the best and brightest young coaches in the business and I am excited and ready to get to work. I look forward to helping build a championship program at Southeast.”
The Redhawks currently have a 3-16 record this season, including 0-6 in the Ohio Valley Conference.

UC DAVIS WINS ON THURSDAY NIGHT
Hawai’i had a full week to rest and prepare for Saturday’s Big West game against UC Davis. The Aggies, on the other hand, will have less than 48 hours to travel from California to Honolulu and prepare for the Warriors.

The Warriors are 15-2 overall and 4-0 in the Big West (a half-game behind 5-0 UC Irvine); UC Davis is 7-10 and 2-2.

Mahalo Coach Benjy Taylor, the fans, the team, the students. and Hawaii appreciated what you did for the Warriors ! prepared these hard working young men for a great run ad ncaa tournament.
Forever grateful to you and former staff for bringing in great athletic talent.
Wish you the Best Benjy, and best wishes to your family too !
UHF..
🙂
I wish you the Best Coach Taylor! Congrats!
Let’s pray Fleming don’t follow suit and become a RedHawk
I would rather talk about Ganot than Taylor or Arnold. Let’s delve in the present and our team, 15-2. To Taylor, best wishes. Aloha.
Congrats to Coach Benjy on his new coaching job, we wish him the best. Hard to believe he couldn’t find a head coaching gig but I see only good things in his future endeavors.
Can’t wait for tomorrow night’s game! Hard to believe, but UC-Davis will actually be the ‘best’ conference team (record wise) UH will play thus far into conference play. However, UH should win this one, as UC-Davis is a 1-7 road team and will have a 48-hour turnaround from their game last night to flying out here and playing tomorrow night. Not the most ideal schedule for them.
Next week will be a long one as well as we don’t play again until the 30th (Saturday) where Long Beach St. comes into town. The 49ers are a strong team this year but have not seen too much success on the road as they are 3-7 away…so I fully expect UH to win that one. The Thursday after, we play at UCSB who is just 1-4 at home this season. We’ve already beaten them once and I see us winning that one as well.
That brings us to a Saturday showdown at Cal Poly (2/6), which will be the first game that I legitimately can see us losing. Cal-poly is strong at home and when we beat them they were missing some key players. If we can manage to pull out that win, we will be undefeated in conference when we host UC-Irvine, sporting an 8 – 0 conference record, 19 – 2 overall and possibly even nationally ranked. Crazy to think that it’s even a possibility at this point!
In any case, for now I’m just looking forward to seeing the boys in action and taking down UC-Davis. Let’s GO BOWS!
UC Davis will have superman capes on or something like that and UH will be Batman, per Jamie on the Curran show today. There will be a moment of silence for TJ Fernandez.
Let’s get a big crowd and rock the Stanley. Serbollywood is a great name.
Good personalities on this team that you can see in the videos. Looking forward to it.
I agree with sending best wishes and aloha to Benjy Taylor. He will not be forgotten for taking us fans on a great ride last year and now we can close this chapter.
Time to take care of business against UC Davis. These are the kind of home games we have to win no matter what to be true contenders. Just like IsaacM says, UC Davis got a bad deal on the schedule so now they know how UH feels like. UH need to take advantage of the tired UC Davis team and run on them or else UCD can still be dangerous with their shooters.
Good job Janks!!!!!
So much talk about Janks’ new dog I want to see a picture!
Anyone know his Instagram handle?
