Hawai’i picked third in preseason poll; Valdes named preseason all-conference

From www.bigwest.org:

For the third straight year, UC Irvine is the media favorite to claim the Big West men’s basketball title as the 2015-16 preseason poll was announced today. The Anteaters return three starters and 10 total players who saw game action from last season’s squad that won the Big West Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

Coach Russell Turner’s Anteaters garnered 198 total points and 19 of the 23-first-place votes. UC Santa Barbara finished second in the poll with 161 points and two first-place nods, while Hawai‘i was picked third (133). Long Beach State came in fourth (128) and UC Riverside fifth (120), while Cal Poly collected the other two first-place votes and placed sixth with 117 points. CSUN and UC Davis tied for seventh with 70 points, and Cal State Fullerton rounded out the poll (37).

UC Irvine finished the 2014-15 campaign 21-13 overall and in second place in Big West games at 11-5. The Anteaters knocked off UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and Hawai‘i in the conference tournament to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA’s. Making their first appearance on that stage, the ‘Eaters narrowly fell to three-time national champion Louisville, 57-55, in the NCAA Second Round at Seattle. Mamadou Ndiaye, a 7-6 junior center, anchors the middle after averaging 10.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. He is one of 20 candidates for the 2016 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award, recognizing the top centers in men’s college basketball. UCI also returns backcourt mates Luke Nelson and Alex Young, who each earned All-Big West Honorable Mention recognition. Nelson averaged 10.5 points per game, while Young was fourth in the conference in assists (3.6 apg). Young is No. 3 in UCI history with 414 assists, and on pace to become the school’s career leader.

UC Santa Barbara is led by 18th-year head coach Bob Williams, who is 288-224 (.563) all-time at the school and bidding to become just the third coach to achieve 300 wins in conference history. The Gauchos bring back three starters from last year’s 19-14 squad, including first team all-conference selection Michael Bryson. The senior guard ranked No. 9 in the Big West in scoring (13.9 ppg) and his 1,043 career points is tops among active players. He is joined in the backcourt by 2014-15 Big West Freshman of the Year Gabe Vincent, who had 57 three-point baskets, second-most all-time by a UCSB freshman. Overcoming a myriad of injuries that sidelined him for most of the previous three seasons, senior John Green played in 33 games (19 starts) in 2014-15, and finished as the team’s third-leading scorer (11.3 ppg) en route to all-conference honorable mention kudos.

Hawai‘i is under the direction of first-year head coach Eran Ganot. The former Saint Mary’s associate head coach inherits a squad that finished 22-13 overall and reached the championship game of the Big West Tournament. Four returning starters and nine letterwinners give Ganot a solid starting point. Senior guard Roderick Bobbitt, a second team all-conference pick, became just the fourth player in Big West history to rack up 100 steals in a season and finished as the national leader in the category. The Rainbow Warriors also are bolstered by the return of all-conference honorable mention selections Stefan Jankovic and Aaron Valdes. Valdes, a 6-5 guard, ranked No. 10 in the Big West in scoring at 13.7 points per game.

Long Beach State seeks a return to the pinnacle of the Big West. Despite the loss of all five starters, the 49ers have three solid Division I transfer players in Nick Faust (Maryland), Roschon Prince (USC) and Gabe Levin (Loyola Marymount). UC Riverside is looking to finish in the upper echelon of the conference behind senior standouts Taylor Johns and Jaylen Bland. Johns was named All-Big West First Team after finishing in the conference’s top three in scoring and rebounding, while Bland was tabbed the 2014-15 Big West Newcomer of the Year as he led the circuit with 95 three-pointers. Cal Poly benefits from a solid returning core of seniors in Joel Awich, Brian Bennett and David Nwaba.

The media panel also selected a six-player preseason all-conference team comprised of three seniors and three juniors from four institutions – UC Irvine teammates Luke Nelson and Mamadou Ndiaye, the UC Riverside duo of Jaylen Bland and Taylor Johns, UC Santa Barbara’s Michael Bryson and Aaron Valdes of Hawai‘i. This is the second straight year that Ndiaye has been selected to the preseason squad.

  1. Thanks for the update, Dayton; well deserved for Valdez, considering his production last year, leading scorer, rebounder, second in steals, etc.

  2. Man,.. that is A GOOD pre season pick !! respect on what UH did last year, plus having AV, MT, Janks, Jovanovich, Quincy and Bobbitt back. All starters at one time or another,. and some of their top scorers.. and defenders !
I hope UH MBB team does even better finishes BWC season number 1 and wins that darn BWC tourney !

Also, shout out to Isaac Fleming and dad.. do the best for your happiness.. if choose to stay at UH.. Isaac would do Great.. just has to be content and happy.. and with team
if chooses to MOVE on.. well Aloha and thankyou to the Flemings !

Go Bows ! NCAA or NIT the goals !

    .
I get emotional & don’t bite my tongue when it comes to my little brother I want only the best 4 him & he’s not being used to his full capacity to help this team win I watched him shut down dukes Tyus Jones in AAU also he embarrassed Isaiah whitehead another 5 star guard but he’s for some reason never bringing the ball up the court im now starting to wish he never Commited to Hawaii but was happy when he did because he made it past some of the mistakes that I made I just want him To be happy and I know that he’s not he’s so call competing for a starting spot right now but I don’t see how at all Ijs I done seen it all I damn sure don’t wanna see my lil bro shafted I rather him get his release much love to warrior fans I feel the love when watching the games on the Internet but not with this new coach good luck to Yall this year with or without my lil bro my first nd last comment….

bigdaddy94. is that you Other son posting?

  4. Finally some respect from these BWC preseason pollers. But we know that this means nothing. Cue last year’s poll where UC Davis was picked towards the bottom and we all know where they finished. We have the talent, now it’s up to Ganot and co to put it together.

  5. As far as Isaac Fleming feeling a certain way: he’s still the most dynamic player on the team. He oozes talent and potential. This is coming from a fan who watches every game. If all these posts are true, Ganot and co know better Than to let him walk away.

  6. bigdaddy, from today’s newspaper article:

“The Rainbow Warriors also nominated point guard Roderick Bobbitt, guard Isaac Fleming and forward Stefan Jankovic to the preseason team, . . .”

    http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/breaking/20151028_Rainbow_Warriors_picked_third_in_Big_West_poll.html?id=338058631

  7. islandman:

yes, the respected what UH with the guys did LAST YEAR.. the deal now.. who knows?
    Isaac could

still stay.. however.. it gets tougher on HE and his family.. about 3 times decision making time .. when Gib fired.. , when Benjy not made HC.. and now the feeling of what role on team? wing, shooting guard.. or PG/combo.. if given the lead.. he is quite dynamic..

Hey..with rod Bobbitt shooting better .. have Rod be off guard. SG.. and make Isaac the PG. as long as under control.. that is a dynamite.. backcourt.. of course.. if Quincy under control, making shots.. he is good PG too.. however.. Isaac skillset.. the type that AC / Tom Henderson/ Reggie Carter had.. very elite.. however Isaac.. fool the defender and go right.. use right hand sometimes..he does..

I guess.. Eran trying to MAKE him a shooter in the offense.. and Isaac wants to be the playmaker?
    we shall see.
just hope Isaac happy, we fans would miss him big time and the team.. And I really feel for bigdaddy94 and their Ohana.. very emotional time.. too much, in less than 1 1/2 year time..

  8. and OTHER things not basketball related? with people.. you gotta be happy and All friends.. makes difference too. . boy, only in Hawaii.. it should be.. however it happens.. can be problems. hard times wherever you live..

  9. I thought Rod should have also got some consideration for first team all conference pre season pick. Too much emphasis on points and not enough on the defensive impact that Rod has. I guess he’ll have to prove them wrong during the regular season.

Bigdaddy there are two sides to every story. Maybe you should just connect directly with Eran and staff to discuss your son’s situation. Posting things in these fan forums is probably not the most effective way to get things done.

  10. Being ranked between 3rd thru 5th is right where the program should be. We, Hawaii fans, know what our returners are capable of and will just need to see how they will apply what they have learned from the new coaching regime. This team has great potential and these ratings will change once we get into January. I liked the offensive set that is being used.

Very good recognition for AV. I do agree, there are other players that deserve the same recognition too. This may show that these writers don’t know much about the players. For AV to get this recognition, there were other players who helped to make it happen. Have to agree that Rod, Janks, Flemming, and Q should be mentioned.

Regarding Issac – very talented. Whether at SG or PG, he can play and will get much playing time IF he wants it. One thing that was noticed at a practice was that it seemed like he was not interested. He stood off to the side and really should’ve been right there and eager to get in the mix. A player will show the coach that he wants to be in there. A coach wants to see the eagerness of a player wanting to play.

Rob of Warrior World predicted exactly this for Issac. We had more optimistic thoughts but maybe he was right.

Whether he stays here or plays elsewhere, John Wooden’s Pyramid of Success would be good for the coaches and players to use as core values for the team.

    Go Bows!

  11. If it’s the PG position that he is talking about, it’s his after Rod leaves. At least they are finding a place for him to play in the mean time. He can also play PG while Rod gets time to rest.

  12. First of all, congratulations to the team and Aaron on their recognitions. It is a good starting point for all.

Now, I totally agree with Pono on the Fleming situation… It is a sad day in college basketball, when families launch a campaign on a fan forum to garner support from fans and anyone else to get recognition and playing time for a player….this forum is not a place to engage in these types of discussions, and to me only hurts the player, his relationship with the coaches, and the team as a whole. To me, this has gone too far… Fleming is now possibly calling out teammates on his Twitter feed, which can’t be good for team chemistry and the team as a whole. This is not a good way to start the season, especially when it is all about the lack of attention, ego stroking, recognition, and playing time of one player. There are 15 guys on this team, and right now they should all be focused on one thing…winning, not drama being caused by one player and his family. To me, the more people comment about this absurd discussion, the more power is given to something that should not even be discussed in the first place. I have been around college basketball a long time, and this is a first for me.

Enough is enough… If you want to discuss the Fleming situation more, please leave it on the previous post, where the discussion started. Let’s try to keep the comments relevant to the topic of the current post, and focus on positive things that are important to the TEAM and the basketball program as a whole.

    Go Bows!!

  13. Haku – If this is a first for you then we really wonder how long you have really been around college basketball. These kinds of things happen quite frequently when there is a coaching change or when other recruits are brought in and challenge for a starting position. Every new coach will enter with an open mind and that all positions are up for grabs. A starting position is one that is earned.

Talk like this may not be productive, I will agree, but they do bring out different views that can sometimes challenge a player to work harder to keep what they have. Whether here at UH or another program, every player must earn their playing time.

    Go Bows!

  14. DaBoyz808, it’s not necessary to question someones personal experiences because they don’t share the same views that you do. This is why I limit my comments on this forum, and why this will be my last comment… There is truly a lack of acceptance of opposite thoughts or opposing views on this forum. Which really doesn’t make it a forum.

If you read my comment CLEARLY, you will notice that my reference to this type of thing happening in college basketball had absolutely nothing to do with the actual situation, I’m definitely aware that it occurs often, but my comment was rather referencing the discussion of the situation (airing dirty laundry, sharing family/team business) on a public fan forum. Sometimes their is a rush to judgment and a hurry to comment without actually fully understanding or reading and taking in what a person is actually saying on this forum.

You are welcome to comment to this, but I assure you, I won’t see it or comment back.. You won’t get any back and forth over pointless topics from me.

    Go Bows!!

  15. Haku: I guess written into constitution and amendments..freedom of speech..WI as long as we don’t attack each other, the families, fans or athletes.. people verbal, physical threats. profanity.. just an expression of personal opinions.

hey bottom line if athletes want to move, and have support of their families fine.

thing is ,Dayton really fair.. he posts islandman, blurbs.. latest UH MBB happenings at ANY time. ANY topic ANY thread.. and he does not get banned or deleted.. islandman could be an ex media type retired.. I appreciate him.. and all contributors..

Thing is We ARE ALL UH MBB supporters.. just losing Isaac that would hurt team a lot..

  16. Uhf1 …. Isaac had high regards from the UH staff as he was nominated by them for All-Conference, whenever that was sent in. It’s up to him if he wants to follow the lead of his coaches, attend practices to learn, etc.

  17. I’d hope Ganot is pro-active seeking out the problems Fleming is feeling right now. There’s no need to wait for a player to come out if he knows the problem. No need to waste time if a player is unhappy not knowing where he stands. Fix the problem if fixable at the earliest time possbile

  18. Congratulations Air-Ron Valdes. Real happy for you and this is a much deserved. I feel that Rod could have also gotten on the list too and possibly Janks. Happy that a Hawaii player is mentioned.

Isaac has taken too much of our time on these posts. He’s not going anywhere nor can he without sitting out a year. Love the kid and please think team first from now on before you speak or post. Not one player the past 2 seasons have gone to social media to voice their concerns the way this kid has. It’s got to stop. He needs to just play basketball and if his family has an issue the coaches’ numbers and email addresses are listed on the school website. Keep it off of the blogs. It does no good I agree.

  19. Isaac and dad and Ganot have to figure it out.. Baller4Life.. imagine, wanting to ramp up interest in MBB this season? public, and that faithful 4000 or so that would go to every SSC home game no matter what? that just might slide, the attendance some..

really feel bad about this one.. it dropped out of the sky.. no warning.. though . Isaac let’s it be known. and bigdaddy94, if that is NOT ISAAC FLEMING HIMSELF? posting here his thoughts.. not the best place.. I don’t know.. however Dayton very open..letting even the Valdes klan, Aussie Mum and Tonganator.. post here as well their thoughts..

freedom of expression, with social media now.. I don’t think eran can stop it.

we shall see what happens.. UH and Ganot lose.. all BWC selection pre season.. before season starts HUGE, HUGE BLOW to MBB program. they are so short on good athletes. this year. hope for the best.. Isaac moves on.. wish him the best. ..he chooses to stay,. wish him the best either way !

  20. Time waits for no one.
    ———————————————————————–
Possible #HawaiiMBB first team emerging at practice. Bobbitt, Smith, Valdes, Thomas, Jankovic together as a unit. Fleming not present today (Brian M tweet) .

  21. Smith seems like a hard worker, doesn’t seem to grumble, etc.

  22. loss of Fleming, could play 1 , 2 or 3 spot.. handle ball, make plays.. just not right fit.. he tried.. I don’t blame Isaac Fleming or his dad or family.. He was offered by some good schools back east.. Benjy made good connection.. good get..
    Gib Fired.. strike one.
Benjy not Hired-permanent HC …strike two
Eran and Fleming not on same page.. ? strike three.

if Fleming stays with team.. it would be a miracle..
I think, JMO.. he is gone.. well thanks for the ride Isaac.. Fleming and thanks bigdaddy(Isaac fleming? too)you all , or YOU helped MBB team reach BWC tourney final and almost made NCAA dance..
Even though , you all went through a lot. a lot of junk.. UH coach and admin,.. better get Everyone on board.. WE KNOW, Recruiting even decent talent at guard, forward and Post. will be very, very hard, with the Negative Pall surrounding program. I think it just. well I feel sorry for the returning Now, for Now only 10, Rod, Quincy, Dyrbe, Zach, Brocke, Mike, Janks, Stef, Mike, Niko and Valdes..

go Bows !! stay together.. HEY ERAN.. just open call to UH students.. anyone. 6 foot or taller, can ball, some. want to walkon? Like a Mike Among, .. or a Miah O. ? Or someone from UH MVB ?

  23. oh no, I had TWO Mikes up there.. maybe another 6 foot 5 baller in UH Manoa will walkon ? would help depth.

  24. I personally want Issac to stay as a fan of this program. If it isn’t the right fit, then it isn’t the right fit.

I think Issac has made up his mind and by reading the comments by his dad and bro….sounds like he already has a foot out the door.

Fact remains…..its time to close this chapter if this is the decision. I harbor no ill will on this young man. Hellava talent and honor to watch. Hawaii fans wishes him nothing but the best.

But for the sake of the TEAM…..its time to get them together and move forward if that is the decision.

  25. Getting real crazy with MBB last going on 6 years.. Now what..
thanks for your post, Isaac Fleming older brother we understand.
and bigdaddy94 or bigdaddy, or I have seen moniker as Bigdaddy, I don’t know which one. if you are Isaac’s dad, his friend, cousin, or just Isaac himself..posting here..

    wish you all well
Eran Ganot.. maybe Not the coach for All types of athletes.. who have really divergent, different mindsets.Isaac when he was on.. what a joy to watch !!

  26. UC Irvine is real good this year per Hoopstalk and could make it to the NCAA 2nd round. They said the UH non-conference schedule is very weak.

  27. Damn surprised to read the recent turn of events.
If it’s true thank you and good luck.
most people transfer because they’re unhappy with there role. Hawaii was a beneficiary of a few of those transfers from Missouri just sad to see one of your best leave if true

  28. Well said Haku Good luck to the enitre team – coaches and players United we stand, divided we fall!!!!! Go bows

  29. OMG……If those tweet posted on Brian McInnis’ blog(court senses) are true…..the dude need to just go. Everything on Fleming tweet was about him. I……me……me…..I…..It really does not sound like he wants to be part of a team. He wants to do whatever he wants(mentioning about speaking his mind). Guys who always speaks their mind are morale killers.

You cannot just go off half cocked and speak your mind whenever you want to. Anyone wants to try that approach at your job and see how long you last????

Ganot is trying to get everyone to work as a team and you got one drama queen trying to spoil it for everyone.

    Sorry…….the dude need to go.

  30. We don’t really know what’s going on so better not speculate. It’s really crushing to see the team unravel even if it’s just one person. Hope Isaac has a change of heart because the fans love him and he is a big big part of this team.

  31. So far no official news so I will take that as good news. bigdaddy94 I hope and pray you and Isaac have talked it through and at least try to stick it out for this season.

Dont forget that you went through something similar last year when you guys were thinking about leaving but Isaac stayed and made it a great season. This could be even better season with Isaac!

  32. The talent recruited was amazing. What could’ve should’ve would’ve.

This year potentially being a big year if Fotu was still here, if Negus was still here, if Reyes big body inside was here, if Issac does not leave. With Bobbit, Jankovic, Javanovic, Smith, Thomas, Valdez.

  33. Manoa Baller: read islandman above post and on Scout forum
hoopstalkers. really sad.. they have hand in what went down past over year with MBB.. will they ever admit it.. NEVER.. they should be censured and banned from association with UH MBB.. horrible. turn of events that backfired on those two..

of course they said UH pre season schedule very weak. so Manoa Baller, what does that say? No different than Gib or Benjy. Eran, pretty much the same, even pulled out of a road game tourney playing at SDSU too. that hurt that SOS ..too..
however.. UH picked to finish 3rd that is pretty good.

No.. notice. Manoa.. a lot of fans.. are commenting.. WE LOVE Isaac, enjoyed his play. I loved Benjy Ball with G, Q, Rod, and Fleming, AV flying up the court.. beautiful and exciting.. if Eran Ball not Isaac thing.. or whatever they have to resolve as perhaps a TEAM.. the guys on TEAM have to work things out.. they will.

bigdaddy94, we know you log on.. it is six hours ahead of us in Hawaii… so 12 am here, 6 am on east coast where you are.. what do you think.. you OR your oldest son.. Isaac stay or leaving? if he does. we Love him.. great athlete, and comedian.. reminds me of Joston Thomas, guy had load of potential.. real character.. comedian..Isaac just has to work on his jumper.. go up vertical, rather than fade away.. I think that is what staff trying to instill in his game.. he go more vert with release at highest point.. 3 ball .. money !

  34. UH wanted more settled MBB situation? more smooth and excitement 10 x what it is now? UH , Matlin, Bley Vroman, Lassner, Jeff P, Jackson Wheels should have hired Benjy Taylor 3 year contracted coach,.. low as they could offer..and with NO clause.. like Gib.. Benjy would have taken it in a heartbeat. would have searched all over the country.. for help.. another assistant to instill good half court sets.. UH.. would be dynamite, and definite.. 1 or 2, top finish.. .however. Benjy coached and mentored team well, ONLY so far.. NWC decided to leave early.. everyone, so far.. stayed..

Manoa Baller,.. if Eran and UH team loses , goes 5-7 in preseason against weak schedule.. then look for the excuses form Jackson and Jeff P.

  35. Well Fleming Family, Isaac, dad , older brother.. what is decision? is Isaac All in with Eran and team? or is Isaac going to pro ball or transfer to another school?

This is I count the THIRD time in about Year time.

    1)when Gib fired
    2)when Benjy not hired HC
3)start of practices and the non show at practices..for what reason?

That is a lot of drama, and affects the young man, your family on east coast and a lot of Isaac’s fans , the team, and the state of Hawaii and Delaware too.

If only Isaac can make up his mind. I think looking at his bio, I followed his YouTube hilites and all star post season , and AAU all star games. .. he was something, very dominant at both ends of court. a mini Magic Johnson..very high BB IQ and skill set.. takes a little growing up to do. he is now, 21 years old bigdaddy94…he is a Man, can make decision for himself. for the best. very sure, Coach Ganot and Eran cannot get on same page, Eran will glady. help Isaac to transfer to another school, or go pro.. in good academic stead.. nearing mid fall session grades I think key too.

Wish the best.. and bigdaddy94, I don’t know if you ARE Isaac’s dad or a very good friend, or I suspect.. ISAAC FLEMING HIMSELF,.. using the moniker bigdaddy94, to post on WI.. you could use another moniker on Hawaii Warrior Scout forum. that is more hard core, there..

hope the best.. let us know bigdaddy/ Isaac/ or older brother please..

  36. Come on now, if you add it up he’s Isaac’s dad or at least family. lol. He’s no Jake1210 wannabe.

There’s no need to pressure Fleming and Family, just wait for it to play out.

  37. Not worth bending over backward for one player and in so doing compromising team chemistry. Think Rod Fleming and his antics which I believe single handedly killed morale and cohesiveness. Talent’s one thing for sure and Isaac’s got it but wherever he goes and whatever he does in basketball and life, he’ll face the same demons that seem to haunt him now. No one player is bigger than his team; no one worker greater than his company. What happened to encouragaing resiliency and fighting through challenges? Why are kids who are competitors at the highest level of collegiate sports encouraged by their family to quit rather than follow the rules and be the better man? The “me first” mentality offers short term satisfaction but is a real set up for a lifetime of misery. Hope Isaac learns this sometime in life. Everyone is put upon; his situation is not different what any of us face in life. Good luck.

  38. A younger prince who is grooming to be the next emperor, has nobody in his way…

  39. With the Right Coach, this could have been a Really good year for UHbb. Ganot is supposedly a players coach from what was written, he’s willing to listen

  40. You guys or gals are hilarious no monikers here lmao.

Uhfanzonly1 I enjoy reading your post because you always keep it 1hundred. Ï don’t make decisions for Isaac ï did my part as a dad he controls his own destiny it’s obvious to me that he loves UH but if you expect him to be a yes boy it is not his background.

Bloggers Ganot is the coach Isaac is the player he respect him for whom he is whatever happened that day in the gym I ? both parties.Competing is not a issue been playing at a high level since 9yrs old always been a pass 1st team 1st guy but refuse to be a kiss *** you got my drift Bigdaddy, Bigdaddy94 last post regarding this BS it consumes to much of my time lmao.

  41. Bigdaddy94,

As a season ticket holder, I’d hate to see Isaac leave. He makes the crowd go wild like no other player I’ve seen in recent history. The love Hawaii has showed for him is truly special – I know Isaac can attest to that.

I understand Isaac might be frustrated by his current role within the team – whatever that might be. But he’s got heart and determination, so I’m sure he can work with the coaches to overcome this obstacle – whatever obstacle that might be.

Can’t wait for the season to start! I have a feeling it’s going to be a good one!

  42. The cream always rises to the top so if players perform within the system they are in they will get their court time. In light of Flemings possible transfer I wonder if the basketball coaches have reached out to Mr Ursua on the football team so see if he would be interesting in coming over at the of the season to give them another practice player. His high school highlight tape looks much better than the current walkons we have.

  43. Yah, if BT were still the coach, a few other players might have left before the season, like NWC.

  44. Folks – a forum is exactly that where each and everyone of us are allowed to speak our opinion. Whether it be in agreement or not in agreement with the different views of posters. There is nothing that says we have to had coaching experience or be a DI or DII player to comment here. That’s what makes this a blog.

Before we start jumping to this situation is causing this team much turmoil, do you really think this is so? One player feeling the way he does, yet the rest of the players committed to the team and program. Practicing hard, learning a new offense, getting in shape, adjusting to a new coaching style, etc. We all have choices and, as much as we would hope that this players choice would be one for the program, he must make a choice that is best for him. If he stays, great! We all welcome that. If he leaves, at least he will be happy. The team will move on as there are other players who will step up to the plate and contribute to the success of the team.

    Go Bows!

  45. You have 14 other guys on that squad that are ready to put on the Hawaii uniform and ball up. It is time to focus on THEM now. All this drama going on with the season soon upon them is getting to be a little tiring.

Again, it is Issac’s decision to be made. I have no hate braddah….ball out and do you.

But with this drama we are forgetting about the other 14 guys that bust their asses, don’t complain and just do what they gotta do.

This squad is talented……we need to focus on the guys who want to play. And wish those guys well for those that wish to depart.

IMUA means to “move forward.” And it is what needs to be done at this moment.

  46. Will he be missed if Issac decides to leave? Of course he will be…..he is a talented player with lots to offer.

But lets be real…..the season doesn’t stop simply because 1 player is on the fence of whether to leave or not.

You have others on the team that are still here wanting to fight and win. Don’t forget them.

With or without Issac…..the team needs to leave the drama behind and press forward.

  47. If it is personality issues hopefully things can be resolved. Both parties must talk to each other and be trusted by one another. No sense doing it through the media. That makes it worse. Important however to do as you say to one another, building one’s integrity as a player and that of a coach.

If it is the style of play that Flemming feels indifferent than Flemming’s only choice is to move on. Don’t expect Ganot to change the style for one player. If he believes that may be a better move for his career he needs to move on. Ganot as a coach and a person should help him find a school that maybe a fit. Ganot helping Flemming to relocate in a positive fashion will bring positives to all concerned.

  48. From what was written about Ganot, he’s a players coach, he’s willing to talk and listen. WE just don’t know all the facts that created this problem whatever it may truly be

  49. Big Boppa Daddy , cracks me up , what a joka brudda , makes a big deal about nothing . Wants his boy catered to , this is not aau basketball or high school but Big Dada acts like a parent who has to make statement to the coach on how his boy should be specially treated and respected as the main man on the team . This aint High School and the kid needs to grow up and not be pampered, he should learn to respect his team mates and coaches . If it doesn’t work out cause Benjy aint there to baby sit him , then so be it . Hope he can find a team to put up with his show.

  50. Bigdaddy94:

Hey, I believe 100% on this forum, believe in your son. He is a great talent for sure. key guy in last year Benjy Taylor run to BWC tourney championship last year. Would it have made any difference if Benjy were HC still? One thing Benjy still had to reel in Isaac at time, like a second bigdaddy jr… in Hawaii.. and warn him about the technicals. once Benjy did that, for the rest of season, Isaac kept quitet played very well, and did not receive a single technical the rest of season. Took a year, however with the right staff and HC.. and the communication and respect among coach and players,,team bond
    solid and team does well

  51. Thanks Dayton.. for letting me express.. your automated moderation software app, if I go too wordy, it moderates,,, and blocks it from posting.. if I keep comments short, below 100 words ,. home free !
Have to remember.. anyways.. if any other UH MBB fan is older than me.. follow UH MBB since 1964, well chime in.,. was it better or worse in the Fab Five days. Savo, AC. or Gib Benjy era.
Or Ganot.. I think Eran going have growing pains.. nice young man, doing it right way.. hard to deal with personalities.. wish UH and Flemings the best..

  52. There are some who want to instigate the Flemming Ohana, so that Issac would leave the program. Don’t listen to these people who comment such negatively. Bigdaddy94 you and Issac know that whatever your guys decision is, most fans wishes Issac the best on the path he takes.

  53. What pump have to do with Warrior basketball?
UH MBB getting really weird now
We need Red back…Red Rocha type
    Great hilo baller 6’10”
    Oregon St great
    NBA pick
    Player coach for detroit pistons
Nice man, loved hawaii and UH MBB

  54. With Tonganator and Aussie Mum..they were here in hawaii…we knew them..
Never recall bigdaddy Isaac’s dad being here..Dayton would have video interviewed him..at SSC or in Anaheim BWC tournament

Bigdaddy really Isaac’s dad or Isaac himself? His brother? Or Q?

Mr Fleming should call eran in person or bring fleming home

  55. Not An Expert – Much in agreement with you. We are not here to antagonize Isaac or his family.

I think most bloggers are a little upset with what has been transpiring lately and wish that he will do the right thing.

One thing we know for sure is that we hope that Isaac will be a part of this program. And if not, we support any decision that he chooses to make.

We also know that it takes 5 players and a supporting cast to win games. With or without him, we have just that!

Being the player that he is, he has the opportunity to start and play many minutes. It starts with his desire to want just this.

    Go Bows!

  56. really didn’t matter yes? whether MBB program under Red Rocha, Bruce O’Neil, Rick Pitino, Larry Little, Frank Arnold, Riley Wallace, Bob Nash, Gib Arnold, Benjy Taylor OR Eran Ganot.. . there are always issues with young men and women student athletes.. anywhere around the country. they are only human..
    hope things work out Isaac.

  57. Uhfanzonly ,Anaheim was not my show that was Coach B & staff show he proved himself worthy of the job but got shafted at the end. Dayton interviews are cool but i was in evaluation mode as i am now so why should i reach out to someone who has not reached out to me regarding this situation that would be counter productive.Isaac loves UH fanz but if the shoe dont fit with this new staff dont waste a year of elgibility trying to prove yourself worthy thats political terminology when a player disagree.

I planned on being in Hawaii Dec.18 Diamond Head Classic everything booked already just holding off on the flights that $2400 is non refundable lol pending the situation.

  58. Quit smoking is good for your health!

  59. From what’s been written. BigDaddy and Issac may have different views on the subject. Issac says he’s not a quitter.

BigDaddy, what’s exactly is troubling Isaac? I don’t want your opinion but the facts of what he told you and you don’t have to inject your own views into it. Also could you be feeding Isaac that it’s best case scenario to move on? Or is it his desire alone to do so? He says he makes his own decision but if your feeding him thoughts it just might make him run away from a problem that he may encounter in the future. I think it’d make Isaac a stronger person working thru this problem at UHbb,, why not play for UH this year and move on afterwards. He’d probably have to sit out a year either way.

I’d also like to know, has any Coach contacted Isaac about joining the squad?

  60. Pocho, Bigdaddy would be jeopardizing his sons eligibility if he says another school has contacted him before he gets his official release.

  61. lol, I knew somewhat of that the school asking/pouching would get into trouble. Never know the player get into trouble, I wondering if it’s who is inquiring would be the party to get into trouble.

  62. I’m sure there are round about inquiries from third parties who contact parents and AAU coaches on behalf of other institution but if anything is said publicly it would just add more problems to the institution that he potentially goes to in terms of tampering with a player without a release. Let’s just all wait til something is official and hopefully it’s that Flemings has worked through his issues and is back with the team to ball it up.

  63. Superiority complex sufferers can’t practice practicality; Reversibility stage has been lost!

Peace of mind is good for all.

  64. Off topic, but Josh Ko may be at Florida Gulf Coast, per his twitter. But don’t see him on the roster maybe because he has to sit out this year.

  65. bigdaddy:

Sorry about that,. .. not giving you benefit of the doubt, I am older fan, not to keen on social media, only limited forums we have here, and specifically MBB topics
When the ncaa turmoil was brewing over a year and a half, maybe more, and Isaac had to make decision to commit here, or some other higher Major schools, I remember Benjy Taylor being on the line to Isaac, filling him in on what was going on, probably you as his dad too, of course. I will forever respect Benjy for that. He kept grinding, working with, and helping Isaac, to know that scholarhip and ability to play right away at Hawaii was still there for the taking. I am so glad as are several other thousand fans, that Isaac came here and did great freshman year.

Good observation FROM Isaac Fleming’s dad, You felt that Benjy did a helluva job,.. even UH admin, and powers.. don’t recognize that, or chose not too.. they did not think with Gib being fired that UH MBB team would even win many games.. shoots, UH with Isaac and the team almost made the Dance.
There is more than we know..you let us know, you and your oldest son, some insight, what you all can see on video hilites that Isaac was not being used like he CAN be used.. to the greatest benefit. you are right, if this system of Offense and the HC and staff direction really different, NOT the right fit.,.I hope Isaac really thinks about it. and makes good decision.. Bigdaddy94, either way, he stays, we are elated.. if Isaac choose to go…I will miss your son.. even the emotion and comedic takes.. he has a lot of fun.. have to be happy though.

Aloha. wish the best for your Son!

  66. Isaac a trooper he will find his way with this staff.Nothing surprises me mad today smiling tomorrow.

  67. Whatever Mr. Fleming decides to do my advice to him is, always give it 100% and maybe 10% extra. Don’t cheat who you are playing for, not to mention yourself. Life is too short. Don’t give up. Good luck and good luck to our Rainbow Warriors.

  68. Bigdaddy94:

very much more respect for you. You seem to post between plane or train commutes, or on your own break lunch/ breakfast time with your smart phone, so shorter blurbs. the last one was excellent.
I tell you ,Dayton should if parents and guys willing do an in depth interview bio on EACH of the guys on teams…where they come from, how they got basketball skills, mom’s favorite meals they cook, do they have sisters, that used to blow em up in hoops in garage, or NBA2K, older siblings.. How do the PARENTS feel about staff, team, the school and their sons being so far away..

You see. we all been in the Twilight Zone of UH MBB for past over year. so much happening. very stressful for all , and in particular the young men.
I can see stress in little Isaac’s tweets, blogs..seems really cryptic, however upset. He talked to Eran, UH legal privacy issues so, Eran can take as long as he wants to get things straight.
I know Isaac is being cared for by medical staff. They have emotional support, and the John A. Burns, nationally and internationally recognized school of medicine, different counselors, M.D.’s that would love to help ALL UH MBB athletes, especially the ones Far away from home.,

I can tell in you last blurb bigdaddy.. you KNOW the deal , your son.. must have been since he very young.. he will have GOOD days.. and then Bad Days.. swing in emotions. moods..pray the best.. and UH can use great resources. and I HOPE he HAS GOOD friends at UH. can help him through these tough times.. really.. I DON”T care if team goes to NIT or NCAA.. that ALL the guys are healthy and happy..that is the main goal… for anybody.

Get well, and happy Isaac, be it here in Hawaii. or back with Big Daddy Isaac Fleming !

  69. MAJOR EDIT, my BOO BOO.. sorry bigdaddy:

    change:
I know Isaac also has help of trained medical staff. They have emotional support, and the John A. Burns, nationally and internationally recognized school of medicine, different counselors, M.D.’s that would love to help ALL UH MBB athletes, especially the ones Far away from home.,.. even had confict resolution. and guidance counselors.. like older brothers and sisters and Uncle , aunties and Fathers and Mothers.
I know.. everyone on this forum say SWEEP BENJY TAYLOR FOREVER into the ocean, new day, new staff. brother Benjy Papa Bear Taylor, saved the butts of UH and the MBB program..the WHOLE state was Galvanized watching the championship game of the BWC tourney … great run.. and Benjy was leading the team.. did he get the shaft. 22 game winner, no convicted felons, not part of NCAA allegation infractions, his name not named as instigator.. he did a job, any other school NCAA DI MBB would have signed him to minimum 2 year deal.. then with HIS boys and Isaac leading the way with the team as a TEAM. with Benjy Ball. and some GOOD.. VERY GOOD HALFCOURTSETS when they had to slow it down.. UH would have made the dance..
Shout out to the Flemings. Wilmington Delaware and to Benjy Taylor !

  70. I support Isaac Fleming.

I support all the players, especially those who came in under Gib Arnold and have had to go through the turmoil and have stuck it out.

For that reason, I have renewed my season tickets.

I do NOT support the UH Administration and their handling of ANY of the basketball scenario since the NCAA has become involved. I continue to support Gib Arnold, Benjy Taylor, these boys, and I will support this Ganot guy if he proves himself EVEN THOUGH he does not have a contract which is par for the course, given that now they supposedly need THREE attorneys to draft a UH coaching contract where they used to need one and couldn’t get one drafted then either.

I continue to support Isaac Fotu, by the way. How can I not support Isaac Fleming in this case? How can I not make the assumption that Isaac Fleming and his father do not probably have an argument for whatever it is they cannot say publicly if it has ANYTHING to do with the UH and its administration of its basketball program? And yet, if this young man decides to continue with our program? I love him for it, I admire him for it, I respect him for his commitment to our program and his team. I think he is an AMAZING talent. The best raw talent we have.

That’s all. I am a mother, by the way. For me, it’s all about the boys.

  71. KelleyO: so far, comment of the day, the first half of fall season, soon to be mid season and the year. !
Awesome, I though I was only one, that like the style of ball and passion that Gib and Benjy brought to UH MBB , after the down Nash years. Though Bob is a great friend and gentleman, hall of honor as person and UH star…

Why the silence on Forums, how is Fotu doing. He was a HUGE get, or recruit of Brandyn Akana, another great guy, and lovely wife and kids. Forever connected to signing Isaac to play for the Warriors. Isaac Fotu, one day might make an NBA roster !
Isaac Fleming..and a NEW HC Staff, completely different style of Offense..he of the go for it, east coast ball.. changing to that Pick and Pop, San Antonio , St Mary’s Gael, with a little Riley Flex motion thrown in. very confusing.. why do you think NWC left.. ? just knowing whether he fit in with new coach and system.. so he moved on.

You are right just like Mama Valdes touching letter reaching out to fans.. when Gib was fired.. horrible move, rush to judge by UH admin. for which they are reaping what they have sown..

The guys like Niko, Dyrbe, Stef, Mike, Aaron and Quincy who have stuck around for 3 and 4 years. and Janks and Rod for 2 years.. amazing. plus our young guns. Brocke and Zack..credit to those guys.
I tell you Kelly, mom of children.. maybe sports sons too, one day.. or now.. UH has to get everyone on same page. as Benjy did INCREDIBLE job, even the black coaches of America, who are scratching their heads to this day, WHY Benjy did not get permanent HC job.. sheesh.
Well KellyO keep on posting.. we love to hear from MOMS. best friends of SONS.. really.. and their Dads..

KellyO, I believe 100% of forums support MBB , however such a quick transition, might take time..
no doubt, I will not boo the guys.. if the staff, boo boo making, maybe, the pres. chancellors. AD.. maybe a little hisssssing. sound..

Go Bows. KellyO have a great season. you true fan, support the boys. . man JMO Benjy should have been the coach.. if fair.. real world.. aside from Hawaii University politics..
Go Warriors.. KellyO , Post of the Year. Positive all the way.. WE support Gib, Brandyn and Benjy’s gets, recruits. of whom make or break Eran’s first year. .Much success Warriors.
And thanks for blogging KellyO !

  72. Not about the coaches, Gib, Brandyn, Benjy, Brandon Loyd, Brad Autry, Senque Carey, or the guys they recruited and coached.

things get really messed up at University of Hawaii OUR ONLY major institution, accredited, that has NCAA DI sports in all of Polynesia..because of the TOP administration and Political hangers on, and insiders. power players.. it is sick to watch.. .. even FB team trying the hardest.. needs direction too, from the top, how to fix that FB program, for the guys..I hope they win ALL 5 of their remaining games.

Hey KellyO, I have been cruxified here, so many times my body, figuratively is a bloody and dying mess. however. my mantra like yours. Gib, Brandyn, Walter Roese, Benjy, brought in great talent .. imagine if Isaac Fotu was finishing his SENIOR year here, with NWC.. and Sammis Reyes, and the current recruits of Gib.. that team would probably go DEEEEP into NCAA tournament.. how it was broken up, and you allude to ADMINISTRATION.. nobody has respect for. I believe majority, even non MBB sports fans.. are fed up.. yes,. go to games cheer on the guys.. I am disabled bed and chair bound, however on radio, online or some OC sportscasts I will cheek on Quicny, Aaron , Mike and the original gang Isaac too, if he choose to stay.. before Gib. BB was blaaah.. when he took over,.. more exciting and last year almost the NCAA dance.. this year.. with Fotu, guaranteed. however.. I still think UH has 7 remaining of Gib’s guys as core, they can do it.

Maybe boo , Lassner, Bley Vroman, Jeff P. Jackson W., and the likes.. they sure did NOT HELP program they brought it down.. not the athletes or EVEN the coaches.. they were on an AGENDA to get out Gib and Benjy

  73. How come no discussion on the agenda to hire Gib in the first place in 2010 ? There is always an agenda, depends on whose it is. Roese left because he didn’t see eye to eye with Gib. Also leaving were Fisher, Rupp and McMillian. 20 technical fouls called last year in the Big West, per Jeff P blog, and UH had 12 of those.

  74. KellyO, Eran signed his contract on Oct. 26 .

  75. Fleming is UH’s future but one player does not make a team. Two senior guards gone after the seasons finished.

  76. she close very close to program I think islandman.. just a little late.. on that contract.. point being when she went to UH.. or in past.. One good counsel.. got it done without all the verbage and fine print writing..
she does not Trust Administration, I don’t think any major University in the USA does. why do you think major even minor gets. recruits.. those coaches are steering athletes as far away from UH as possible ?
You win, Gib, Benjy.. exciting ball.. have good kids…no felony..alleged infractions. I think that is what we want to see. how much could Gib and his counsel lessen blows of any to his MBB program and the guys. clear a lot of people’s names.. she is a Gib supporter.. Fotu, I guess Davis, Christian, the whole bunch who gave their lives to an Administration with a Negative, vindictive agenda.. would not want to send kids or any new gems might know of to UH.. for any sport if they continue with this shibai..lot of people hurt.. though.. we might see a certain GA have some justice.

I side with KellyO, I don’t know it the one I know.. close to a certain program.. very smart gal and mom
major supporter, and SHE still buys season tickets, willing to give Eran.. having some MAJOR problems now.. Ganot.. signed to HIS DREAM job

Go Bows ! and Kelly , you go girl !!

  77. Enough talking about Issac. Give the young man some privacy to figure out his life.

  78. Lol. Sorry, didn’t realize my comments might be controversial. Just my humble opinion and personal feelings toward the powers that be. That said, of course I think I state the obvious. The politics, the mis-management, the total BS that gets fed to the public only to to have the same S hit the fan as it flies back in their faces while more of my tax money (and contributions) go down the toilet where the S belongs.

IslandMan, thanks for pointing out that Ganot’s contract was finally signed.

Pocho, indeed, one man does not make a team and I do not mean to imply this in any way if you are referencing my post; only that I think his talent is terrific and that I support and understand any decision he makes.

UHfanzonly1, we agree on much. I admit to thoroughly enjoying the upbeat offense and style of play that the athleticism that Gib’s recruits have allowed us to play over the past several seasons, though I would have liked to have seen it reigned in a bit at times. Still, I thought that our game plan the first half of the final game of the WAC tournament demonstrated our ability to do just that. Sorry, my memory is foggy and I may be confusing games two and three…lol. At any rate, I am Leary about going back to a “boring” flex half court offense and pray it will not be like going from the run and shoot to Norm Chow! Oh oh…will the June Jones haters not like me saying that either? Haha.

Ok. thanks for your support UHfanzonly1. I better hold my tongue now.

  79. Agree with Jjay….time to give Issac some privacy to figure things out.

Until then, the upcoming season doesn’t stop….gotta keep moving.

  80. KelleyO, did you watch the scrimmage? I thought the offense was pretty fast tempo.

I’m gonna throw it out there: are you RunBows/Uhfanzonly1? I’m beginning to think I may be one of just a few unique, real contributors on this forum.

Dayton, with people posting here claiming they’re Isaac’s dad and other new ‘users’ making claims that they’re close to the program, etc., I think I’m not alone in asking that you shed some light on this situation. Or at least do something about it in the back end.

  81. Don’t know much about everything…just want UH do well, be fair, take care winning programs and fix losing ones..
Most important UH student athletes and families , fans happy
A little unsettled contrast from chow FB program to Benjy ‘s run..
Never will understand that move or non move …I love the guys, current and. past mbb team athletes who gave their best for Hawaii
I think..hope Eran will pressure, fuels transition..and quick scoes
Of course need great execution half court to close out games

    Go bows
Going be fun season Kelly and Tavs..we all want guys do well bottom line…admin just be better by much!!

    Pau..
    🙂

  82. TAVS

I was thinking the same thing. Hijacked again.

  83. Too serious…more to life than warrior basketball
    Fun to watch
I hope Isaac has fun again..here or elsewhere

    Aloha!
    🙂

  84. DECISION Time….

I’ll Say MOST Places You Will NOT Find Better Teammates….

    Appreciate your haiku like prose

If Isaac not there at wvb game..is he pau?
Well means more time for zach, dyrbe, brocke, niko, sheriff

    Let’s see how turns out..

Maybe team refocused again and wins BWC..
    Hope so!

Or Like sammis, take care issues and comes back..

  86. It’s Been Awhile since UHMBB was Pe-Season Conference Top Three
    [Assuredly Na Wahine as well]

BUT Also Good to See kenpom.com Giving A Vote of Pre-Season Confidence
Starting UHMBB 2016 in The Top 100 (#94)
Hopefully RISING (Not Sinking) from there…
With Last Year’s 22 Wins UH Finished about #123

ISAAC — Please Stay The Course
    It “Should” Keep Getting Better…
    [If NOT, Switch Later…]

    What Do I Think?
WE Purchased OUR BWConference Tourney Courtside Seats…
    ANAHEIM And Beyond…

  87. hey eagle,

we been waiting going on 6 years.. always this time of year.. THIS IS PAYOFF year, no excuses.. I think.. guys back to the wall AGAIN.. however, they discipline up that half court offense, and help defense, shoot well, well you get it.. whatever they were weak on… as long as that front 8 without Isaac, for now.. I think FINALLY PAYOFF YEAR.. NIT OR NCAA. why not UH? as Janks and NWC said 2 years ago?

Go Bows! Know you are super busy, I wish so much I could go. cannot now..however.. will imagine you and mate, cheering on team, at SSC. always, great fan. and in Anaheim.. hey win 3 and they go Dancing.. the past is the past.
Make a Better future..March 2016 here UH MBB comes. nice if WBB too.. make it historic. and Hawaii fans will be Sugar Bowl 2008 January, type of excitement.

  88. Hey Prince Pupule (title you just earned instead…):

By going to be Agent Orange, replacing Agent Zero (going no-show).

Last year, before you even start playing for Hawaii, I told the Emperor –
The possibility of getting (in order of importance).
#1 Soaking-in the Aloha Spirit in paradise,
#2 Show-boating with the Ohana Brotherhood for upto four years.
#3 Full-ride Warrior Scholarship (ask the paying parents what is the cost?).
    #4 Earned the honor of a Scholar-Athlete in D1,
#5 By the Jr-yr earned BWC First Team honor,
#6 Good grade, extra credits earned… qualified for sheepskin
#7 Got drafted high in NBA team.

If flush everything into the lua =>quitter+loser!

  89. Not a Ganot recruit I guess, never promised a position and it’s gonna be a long season. Kinda losing interest in the team now as Fleming was an exciting player to watch being aggressive on both sides of the ball.

Thank University of Hawaii. Extend Chow’s contract, now

  90. n2o4joy,Change = for the better not the worst just ask UH admin.

  91. Pocho,he didn’t ask for a plane ticket so i assume he will be at the next practice.

  92. One player does not make a team, but it hurts

  93. I/We Hope So….

BD: Thanks for the Ray of Hope…

DON’T Know him well at all (maybe my fault)
[Because Some Others i DO Respect Trust Him]
But Ganot does seem ‘low-key’ on Promises
AND we’re NOT So Far Away from seeing some Results

I’ve Played On Teams i wasn’t so sure i even liked All the Guys
BUT Having a Coach that Keeps the Plan in Line was Usually/Always a Plus
For Myself — i hear others i Respect say so, too…In Business, Life, Basketball…
    Executing The Plan Works…

In What Is Considered the Ultimate Team Sport
The Team With All Five Working Together
More Times than Not Beats the Dis-Oriented, Dis-Organized or Dis-Harmonious Dis-Eased Team
From a Compassionate Coach (I ‘Think’ he is, NOT Just a Dictator)
A Little Discipline Could Go A Long Way
MIGHT WIN A Game or Two that otherwise would slip away.

    One or Two More
COULD BE HUGE from where This Team May Be Starting

    Even Personally
Discipline is Really Discipline of Self
    Leadership is Leadership of Self
Working Through ALL of This is Likely a Good Thing
RESOLVING / Flushing it Before the (instead of Mid-)Season could also be a Blessing

    ?Save a Ticket?
    ‘Stay the Course, Agent Zero
    GO, Showtime!

    GO ‘BOWS!

    [Right There With ya’…]

  94. Taz, no I didn’t go to the scrimmage. My mom passed away a month ago and I’ve been out of sorts. It did make me think about doing the things that are important to me, one of which is UH athletics. I hadn’t renewed my season tickets for financial reasons, to be honest. No…I’m not some big donor or close to the program. If you go back and read…that wasn’t ME saying that, that was UHfanzonly1’s imagination run amuck! Lol. That’s what happens on these blogs and why I don’t usually participate, though I do read them, the articles are informative and the comments are oft entertaining!

I don’t know how to prove I am real except to say that if you were at the last WAC tournament game played at the Orleans, there was an elderly woman sitting about five rows behind the New Mexico State bench harassing the coach by yelling “What??!!! What??!!” repeatedly to him, something he had yelled previously to his star player in front of the crowd. I became such an annoyance to the coach and the “elite” New Mexico State fans sitting below me, they tried to have me removed from the arena toward the end of the game (the Hawaii fans were of course cheering me on). That is my claim to fame, much to the chagrin of my embarrassed family.

It’s been fun. I’m. Going back in hiding now. Here’s to a great season everyone!! See you at the dance.

  95. bigdaddy94,

most if not all us wants this to be behind us. Alot of opinions of why this is happenning that’s brought out a lot of dirt. I pray the problem is remedied as your son is a very exciting player, he gives his all on the court and with it comes his emotions. He has that desire for the game, a game that drives him wanting to be the best of the bestest and he doesn’t seem to be a one dimensional type of player as he wanting it all.

I pray Isaac stays his entire college bb career at UH.

  96. Hey Emperor:

The good coach reportedly saying “He went to the palace to get more of those royal treatments from you” but, you just told us that “no ticket issued!”.

The media cops can’t smell any of the Agent Orange!

It’s hard to see thru the vog.

    Should you be huhu?

  97. KellyO – now you really cranked him up!

UHF1 – NWC left due to not going to classes and grades.

Whatever decision Isaac makes, we wish him the best! The grass is greener in the other side? Not always true. Much practice time missed too. Yo yo yo…. You going to show up?

Otherwise, Q should step in and do just fine. We’re in good hands.

My son has shed a couple of tears due to this situation but it has been a good life teaching experience for us. Thanks.

6 more days and we will finally get our taste of UH MBB. Been waiting for this since March.

    Go Bows!

    .
n2o4joy,Change = for the better not the worst just ask UH admin.

Anymore insight into your comment bigdaddy94? Really is UH admin, the top guns, the staff, being problematic.. ? They have a great core , at least 8 really top PT guys from last year including Isaac, why would they want to screw that up?
I just want your son to be happy, I truly do.. UH admin, well Eran and privacy issues I guess. just says Isaac taking care personal matters sorting them out.
    I hope not his health.

Get well, Isaac, and sounds like bigdaddy94, even in Delaware, you seen it, heard it, done that. before. with Agent Zero.. great talent.. and loves his family for sure, both you and your son. that LOVE evident even in your blogs.

  99. KellyO: I give you credit.. sorry my old, and I am probably older than you.. imagination runs wild. MBB fun.. Admin. just have to get things right for whole state and the students.

KellyO . one great UH sport fan, and Basketball.. probably see SSC OC sports cameras hilite you on closeups. hey give shout out to WarriorInsider. !!
I cannot go.. am disabled for years. .though my hear and mind, and spirit are with fans like you and the Bows !!

    🙂
And Tavs.. No.. too old, too disabled, one foot in the koolaus..to go to SSC games or Klum.. however.. depending on that SSC exhibition time with Chaminade. might make family member roll me in.. I would be in disabled seats. and with my memory, not even know that was TAVS who patted me on the back!
TAVS, Derek, warriorhaw, jjay, eagle, n2joy, clyde, PONO, plenty loyal UH MBB fans ! you watch, when UH wins that RBC . first tournament maybe even upsets Texas tech on the road,. and in the DHC really doing well .. lot of fans will come to games guaranteed.. have 5000-6000 would be great !
    Go Bows. !!

  100. I’m not watching, but not at practice today, per McInnis.

  101. What happen bigDaddy?

  102. islandman :

Mahalo bro.. I saw BM blog and photo.. today Oct 31 2015.. NO FLEMING in sight? could he be bound for Wilmington, Delware on a flight right now?

Wish the guy gets okay, whatever the dilemma, and eventually if that is his and family wish, get his degree..
hard to make NBA rosters.. even euro high end. I think Savo and Lojeski went pretty high. almost NBA one notch below.. international pro ball, can make good money, however guys like English, playing about 12 years now.. really company guys.. take care business and wife and kids.. have to live day to day.. and be happy..

as Pocho said Bigdaddy.. IS ISAAC HERE , There, or Not Everywhere?
Or IN DELAWARE.. or bound for there?

I guess by tomorrow’s SA or BM blog real time.. or islandman scoop, we will know soon.

That Seven Samurai.. they are still there servante .. now down to Rod, Q, Mike, Aaron, Janks, Niko, Jovanovich, with help of Sai , Zach, Sheriff off the bench.. so that is a solid 10…..

  103. Bigdaddy94:

your messages, from your smart phone.., blurbs, really cryptic, maybe legality or privacy laws.. however.. is Isaac Really unhappy with higher up people? or peers? Team, ? professors.? or ?

Or as you and your eldest son alluded to, point blank.. he wants the ball in his hands. that is PG. scoring type. who can also facilitate.. Don’t sound like he wants to be a 3, or wing.. and pop 3’s maybe 8 or 9 per game. he wants to break , finish , and D UP.. get ball and go.. not the Pick and Pop of Popovich style

Seems. like a lot of things going on with your son.. hope he is safe. whether he is in Hawaii or back home in Delaware .. why? because we care.. the athletes like OUR own sons !!

  104. Uhfanzonly1, Made comment that the administration appears good in bring down a sports program at UH. Yes UH would have been ranked 1 or 2 this year to win the BW title, with Fotu, NWC, Reyes, Flemming if staying and the rest of the magnificent 7. Maybe Gib if he was here, would have been able to land a 3-4 star recruit to shore up the middle.

So the administration trying to bringing down one program by firing without cause their basketball coach and keeping their football coach to continue to bring down that program.

By the way the 2 most important program financially that needs to be successful to assist the rest of the non revenue sports.

  105. All you guys leave the family alone It’s a personal matter. Cheez this thread was about This thread is about Valdes and being picked third Went way off the subject at hand.

  106. well, BigDaddy’s reporting. Keeping the juices flowing here

  107. Maybe Fleming missed a weeks practice and doesn’t figure to play this coming exhibition so Coach gave him a couple more days off.

  108. Sorry gang, just was able to charge my phone.

Flemming sighting at the Honolulu International Airport today.

  109. Aloha Oe

    You will be missed!

  110. Is it confirmed ?
    ———————————————————————————————————–
Hope for fans and players that the basketball team does better than the football team.

  111. Islandman,

It would take a lot of negligence to be worse than the football team.

As for Isaac, I think he’s taking a break from the team to deal with a personal issue that’s not related to basketball. I believe Ganot has allowed him time off to think things through. If we’re truly fans then we should just leave him be. I, for one, won’t mention him again.

  112. Folks let it die. If all the rumors are true that he is leaving or at the airport he will be back. He needs to finish the semester if he wants to transfer. If he doesn’t he will not have a GPA sufficient for a school to take the risk on him. He is Hawaii’s responsibility. We forget that little issue. Another school is not going to risk their APR and take him on.

  113. Baller4LIfe: Never before, during fall session MBB camp, and almost start of regular season, coach let’s a guy “take care of personal business” nothing more. Must be personal, health, family, emotions, or close friend? I don’t know, his business. HOWEVER Pocho is right, if Bigdaddy94, is really Isaac Fleming Sr. of Wilmington , Delaware, a great loving dad. he would not post things unless it really involved his son either staying or coming home.. I really don’t know if Gib were coach OR Benjy were still coach , if PERSONAL to Isaac, whether they would allow the same thing. If Family, close a health issue.. in the past, HC would tell press, so and so is going back home, because of the very ill condition of relative, happened to BB, MBB and FB team members.. after visiting relative or close friend, they returned to finish the season.. THIS ONE.. I don’t know why Bigdaddy94 and his eldest son would throw ATOMIC Bombs, hints. that Isaac was extremely upset at his role with Eran MBB team and system, and Bigdaddy alluding to Admin.. getting straight corrected.. go ask them, as well as Bigdaddy saying, They admin or HC not reaching out to him, Isaac’s father, instead of he having to reach out to Eran.. .. Makes me believe the above post. and I don’t think it is a troll or fake.. If they say they saw Isaac, at airport with baggage in hand.. then he is going back to the mainland.. Very sure if can, Brian M., Dayton M. or Ferd/ Dave R. will have reason why the huge swings in theory speculation on why Isaac is going through this. I Hope that HE, Isaac is not sick.. that he can be helped. if it means, he leaving, then coming back to finish semester, without playing MBB, like Sammis Reyes last year. fine.. just wish that that young man is alright.

Thanks for the memories, Isaac, sort of like a quicker, yet flashy, smaller version of Andre Morgan, who was a 4 star type of guard out of Indiana over 31 years ago for Riley.

  114. Too many unqualified assumptions and innuendos. Give the young man some peace and quiet to figure things out for himself.

  115. The exhibition game is on Thursday, already.

  116. Bigdaddy94…

. Main thing, Isaac gets straight, okay, and feels better.. whatever is troubling him..I am sure, Warrior Insider forum, the coaches, the team, and Hawaii.. feels the same… that is the most important thing , Isaac Fleming is safe, healthy and happy.

  117. Big Daddy is possibly not his daddy ,wheres the proof, wasting time and endless comments to a troll , fishing you … get back to the subject , new season starts with this week’s game ! , go Warriors !!

  118. Norm not quite 4 seasons, All losing seasons..terminated with what payout? who knows.

Norm Chow Record into 4th season, with One more season to go if granted 5th, he was just fired Nov 1 2015

    2015 2-7(fired after 9 games into season)
    2014 4-9
    2013 1-11

Gib, fired without cause, the clause LD length of contract, settled. Overall record over 3 years: 72-55..UH admin vacated 36 of those wins.

Benjy, made interim , then Acting HC.. leading HC permanent, until Admin got Eran in place. Month to Month with a little bump in pay. One year pau 22 wins.

Now Chirs Naelole Interim HC. with Assistant Kurt Gouveia …assistant pay, NOW what?

Wonder what the buyout for Chow? Any special clauses. ? they could reassign him to another UH dept, he will be 71 years. old not as much pay, however contribute if he wants and UH agrees. like Von Appen became Literature teacher for UH.. nice man, so is Norm chow.

Hot seat HC jobs for UH? JMO
    Trapsso
    Coolen
Ganot(still has to prove can control mentor 10 returning egos)
    NEW HC?
    Bud Nagamine?
    Swimming/ Diving pretty good
    Tennis okay,
    Track individual awards
    Cross Country okay..

Will Admin or Matlin do the right thing.. support the winning, even if a little kolohe,.. minor, workable problems. and fix, or put in place NEW winning coaches for UH teams suffering with losses for several years/

Now the time for Matlin, and Lassner, BOR, Bley, the real captain, Amanda whatever happened to her? make sure she do her job well too.
just clean slate.. start all the way from the top work towards the bottom

that is MY mantra from beginning any family, army, country, school, business, Always starts at TOP. ithe administration is Great,,really good. it trickles down, and benefits the whole organization..NOw is the time for the TOP Admin. to step up regain the confidence of Students. parents, athletes. fans, donors .. really a trust factor.. YOU saw in Aloha Stadium? looked like ONLY 12000 actual , maybe by 2nd quarter, maybe 9000 or less. empty.. like a desert..wow..

Time has come today, Timeeee, Timmme …Timmmmme ! Yes not another way, Time has Come Today for better , fairer, non political, agenda driven change.. good people in all parts of the UH system..

  119. Norm Chow aka No Clue , deserved to get fired, even though a year late, kudos and balls to Matlin for making a tough decision that needed to be done. Onward and not looking back . It’s Warrior time ! Maybe we can finally win one at Vegas for a change.

  120. Last day to withdraw from classes was Friday. No withdrawal – all F’s for grades. This would explain his departure on Saturday. If in school, can leave after the semester and transfer.

Would be able to play for another team in January of 2017. 2 years of eligibility left.

Sad. He will miss the UNC game in 2016 – 2017 season.

Insider says that there was an argument between Isaac and EG at Gym 1 a couple of weeks ago. One side not willing to work things out. The other side not willing to listen.

  121. Mr Bill if that is true, and I BELIEVE you ARE credible insider.. NO absoulutely nothing via any media source,or Bigdaddy himself. that Eran is on board with UH MBB. usually HC comes out. says. grade , he might have to sit out sememster and try again..Or something to that effect.. You know how UH is..
I think NWC, maybe Fotu, whose family desire was for him to EARN that degree. too bad.. I hope the best. however, I KNOW YOU ARE NO TROLL..an insider. .sharing what seems the obvious.. no BM tweet of meeting with team , Ganot and Fleming this weekend.. very sure with All the vamped up compliance dept.. any member slip up major.. they are gone academically, you can be suspended or if FAIL all your classes? what lose scholarship. I would think so…

good bye Isaac Fleming.. great one year run.. imagine if you all made it to NCAA’s last year. maybe Benjy would still be coach. Mr Bill or is INSIDER.. if Isaac don’t make the grade, if true. I am sure Bigdaddy94 would send him plane ticket ONE WAY to come home.. hey he can still go JC.. get things straight, then be re recruited by some High or good east coast MBB schools.. just has to take care of business
See, I told the Forum earlier this spring. CHALLENGE FOR ERAN < MANAGING 11 egos attitude of players from under 2 different coaches who are NO longer here. hope no more challenging and insider fighting with the rest of guys… then this year could be rough one.

Isaac, wish you well, if to get degree, buckle down in class no matter which school, go pro. still have to mature.. dog eat dog world out there. .maybe at UH too?
Love you Isaac Action Jackosn, agent Zero out..

  122. And Eran earning his pay now.. hey they said that about Rocha all the way to Gib and Benjy.. Eran no different, challenge working with young guys, especially if they are NOT your initial recruits.. happens all the time..
Hope no one else leaves. walkons or scholarship guys

  123. Last day to withdraw from classes was October 23, according to UH calendar.

  124. Eran has always said that he only wants player who want to be here. While I like Isaac as a player, he and other “relatives” on this board have always showed signs of wavering even from last year in whether or not he wanted to stay in Hawaii. If everything hinged on Benjy or this “diversity” thing that was mentioned when Eran was hiring his assistants, then maybe there are other issues that Isaac needs to be comfortable with. Honestly, if he stays, I think he’ll have a productive year if he buys into Eran’s new system. If he doesn’t want to be here, good luck to him wherever he does decide to go. Just make a decision. Stay and commit or leave and enjoy your future.

Almost all recruits have enjoyed success in high school and not all of them get to start and contribute as much as they would like. If players are truly and honestly team players, you will be willing to contribute in any way that you can whether it be 10 minutes or 30 minutes. It’s part of maturity and understanding that you can’t always be the focal point. Why would a coach not play his best players who are executing his system? Some people benefit from a more freelance type of system where the most athletic players will dominate the ball.. Some people benefit in a team “San Antonio” type of system.

Back on topic, yes, with or without Isaac, I think we still have a great bunch of Hawaii players.. not Benjy’s or Gib’s or Eran’s… Hawaii. Being picked third says a lot… and I’m sure that the new team, ball movement system will definitely take us far in the Big West. Saint Mary’s system and ball movement was impressive and if we’re taking elements of that system, we should be able to do well with our level of talent in Aaron, Janks, and Rod.

  125. That’s unfortunate that our APR could potentially be impacted if it’s true that Flemings is back on the continent now. Best of luck to Flemings, but we gotta move on and stay positive.

  126. Forgot about that…that is how U. Conn. Got put on one year probation ban post season one year
    Flemings
If failed classes..boy…call compliance officer,,looks like UH remaining scholie guys have to step up
If bigdaddy is really Issac’s dad..we shall know soon
Very fes scholie guys for active roster this year..

    Bigdaddy what happened?
    Isaac in Wilmington ?
    Or if he failed early
Classes…I think academic suspension and cannot play this year right?

  127. The one thing that irks me is that if Isaac left he could do it in a professional matter and finish out the semester so his grades are intact and UH’s APR is intact. Unless EG did some egregious he should do things the right way. It’s like quitting your job without two weeks notice and stomping out.

  128. I think ozren pavlovic went pro did mbb big favor, finished spring semester in oustanding fashion

I tell you pono…the melodrama never ends!

  129. Send thankyou Hawaii fans..mahalos.. video or letter posted on Warrior Insider
    So everyone move on
Going be almost small , small roster by first game
That would be aloha thing to do
Bet mbb team..puzzled, frustrated, maybe peeved..

    Go Bows!

  130. Bill I’m in Phila stop spreading rumors Isaac is good. I’m his dad i control the bank account he has loyal friends that will bring him back east all he has to do is say the word.

Baller4life good post #teamfleming always on the edge but not lacking knowledge whatever is going on is self inflickted Ganot the coach i like his approach “PERSONAL”

Back to Valdes he need his teammates to assist him a star on the “RISE ” Man Up Booka.

  131. bigDaddy94, we will find out Isaac’s decision soon, he’s still on island then?

  132. bigdaddy94,

Isaac can create his own, he is an exciting player always challenging his opponent. Kinda spot on as to Valdes but he’s still growing, I was kinda amazed on his long range shooting last year and wonder if he worked on his dribbling skills which I think is his weakness.

  133. There are lots of wild opinions on this board but they are opinions and acceptable. Mr Bill is flat out lying. This is not acceptable. Pretending to have information and creating more problems. To me, he needs to get a warning from our blog host.

  134. Kaimiloa – flat out lying? I know what I saw.

  135. You didn’t see him leaving. That’s for sure.
