Let the fun begin – Jamie Smith and theme nights are back
Better late than never, Jamie Smith has returned to the University of Hawai’i basketball program. The Manoa Maniacs can now unite in the Stan Sheriff Center for seven remaining home games, starting with this Thursday’s contest against Long Beach State.
“I’m back, and so are the theme nights, so every game is a party,” Smith said.
Smith’s title with the Warriors is Performance Analyst, so his primary duties will revolve around creating and analyzing game video for the coaches and players. His involvement with the student section during games will not be as extensive as it was last season, but he is still making an effort to recruit students to attend the games.
During the upcoming four-game homestand, each contest will have a theme. Thursday is “Rainbow Warrior Paint Night,” Saturday against Cal State Northridge will be “Pajamas Night,” next Thursday (Feb. 6) against UC Santa Barbara will be “Aloha Shirt Night,” and next Saturday (Feb. 8) against Cal Poly will be “Superhero Night.”
Thanks in large part to Smith’s efforts, the Manoa Maniacs student section reached record attendance numbers last season. He returned to his home country of England after the season, and could not return to UH until this week due to a work visa issue.

The other video above features the impromptu debut of Polynesian Productions. The usual road video tandem of Davis Rozitis and Isaac Fotu was one short last week, as Rozitis had to finish some school work before joining the team.
Fotu turned to his road roommate, Dyrbe Enos, as a fill-in for Rozitis while the team was in Davis, Calif.
