  1. Good Win. Hawaii got 6 out of 7 things for game done. Have to hit 75-80% or better from FT line, UH will address that next. FT’s so important this year.

Fun game, and whether NAIA, DII, DII DX, UH got effort, everyone got to play and had FUN.

Now UH get ready for a much better Montana Team!

    Go Bows!!
    😀

  2. Sorry, I meant UH get ready for an athletic New Orleans team. Keep working guys toward the prize, NCAA’s!

    Go Bows!
    😀

  3. This game was a confidence booster. Everyone played well and did what they were supposed to do. Shamburger really impressed. Someone said he can’t shoot. I think he was just rusty from the long layoff. He’s got a nice stroke and when he’s on his shots are dead on. Dyrbe shaping up to be our 3 shot specialist off the bench. If only Valdes can knock down his jumpers with consistency he could see major playing time. You don’t need to be an analyst to see his awesome potential. We got a somewhat soft schedule the next 4 games. It’s perfect to work on defense and get the body ready for the long stretch of the DH Classic.

  4. Per Coach Gib on Post-Game Radio, Dyrbe’s solid play in Missouri and 3-3 on 3’s tonight is exactly the kind of Step-Up the Team Needs; that he’s earned prime playing time and he will be in the mix …

    Good to also see Jovanovic’s basket awareness and hustle;

and More Emergence of Aaron Valdes’ much more complete and all-court active game …

  5. Eagle-the guards, as you mentioned before, and a few other forum contributors, the 4, Smith, Nevels, Shamburger and a healthy Brandon Spearman, made up for departure of GJ, JT, MC, HB….this group of perimeter players, they hardly turnover the ball!. Nevels for example played 24 minutes, with this uptempo, non stop running game, and HE HAS ZERO turnovers!! Prior to Mizzou game on the road, Garrett Nevels had ZERO turnovers for the season, at Mizzou, he just had ONE! Awesome, Nevels and Smith take care of the ball, when they can , they go to rim, just like Shamburger. These guards might not be tallest, however, once they get the D going against D1 competition leading up to DHC…especially important to see if they can go to 9-2 before DHC, they have as good a chance, against very, very good competition to have the Pomeroy and RPI rankings go up, really only for our enjoyment. The whole ball of wax, or most important tournament for NCAA chance to dance , BWC tourney in March 2014. This team is fun,…reminds me of when we first watched the Fab Five, when they got on a winning roll, before the 1970 Rainbow Classic, up to that time they were not drawing sell out crowds at the HIC, however by RBC time,. late Dec 1970, they had standing room only and a statewide TV audience glued to their CRT old time analog color and BW televisions(for old timers!)

Go Rainbows, Bows, Fightin Deans, and Go Rainbow Warriors. Just keep getting better help defensively, that zone, and help man, can get better, plus have to hit 75-85% or better all 14 guys that see playing time, as hoopsa and Gib says, means winning the BWC tourney and a lot of games this year.
Eagle, maybe , just maybe, this is the year, Gib’s team has a plus side of 19 win season and chance to Big Dance, or Little Big Dance!
Let’s Go Bows. Have to beat the Privateers, a good southern, athletic, high flying, basketball team!

  6. addendum to my above post: plus UH team have to hit 75-85% or better of their FT’s no matter whom the competition..all 14 guys that see playing time!

Eagle, start the chant…let’s go bows, Let’s Go Bows…LET’s GO BOWS!!!

  7. Nevels, after starting all 5 games, averaging over 31 minutes playing time per game, I thought typo error on UH site, he has ONE turnover for the season. Wow..wish the 4 guards can keep their turnovers, down, as a team averaging after 5 games, an incredible 11 turnovers running the uptempo offense, sure they are not going against Louisville with that top level pressure, however, who knows, in March , UH could be ready for anyone!
We have to like this team Eagle, very special team. They have to get the off island wins against Chaminade on Kauai and N. Arizona at Arizona, those will probably be tough games, in my book before the DHC. This team continue to work hard on D, and interior defense, will be good, very good. Potential is their, and Enos ,I am so Happy a local boy is going to get major minutes, as a 2 guard, or combo, backup point, Enos, just has to play major D1 Defense, the more time Gib gives him, since coach trusts him…Enos will get better, think Miah O..with a better outside shot, and a little bigger and stronger for BB!
    Uhfanzonly1.

  8. Yup, Most Guards have ʻAcceptableʻ (For Early Season) Assist-to-Turnover Ratios ..
Nevels is Outstanding to Date (Unless you Want Him to Find/Force more Assists)

AND The Aggregate Meets Team Targets

UPPER/TOP LEVEL Teams just donʻt Commit Many Turnovers…

    AND Make Great Passes/Shots…
