Next summer camp for youths set for Aug. 1-3

Camp2013

August 1, 2 and 3 will be dates to circle for youth fans of the Hawai’i basketball team.

A new summer session of the Hawai’i Basketball Camp has been scheduled for August 1-3, and all of the players from the 2013-14 roster are expected to be in attendance to serve as camp counselors.

That’s right, youth players will get to see Isaac Fotu’s spin move up close, run the floor with Christian Standhardinger, and find out just how tall Davis Rozitis is in real life.

The camp is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 17, of all skill levels (players will be divided into groups based on age and skill level). Previous camps were held in early June, and players who attended those camps are eligible to attend the August session.

Camp hours will be 9 a.m. to noon on all three days of the camp, and cost is $75 per child. All of the camp activities will take place in the Stan Sheriff Center and/or the practice gyms on the UH-Manoa campus.

For more information, call the UH basketball office at 956-6501.

  1. Coach Gib, Fish, Akana, Taylor and DOB Chris M. , kudos to you all. You are doing a great service for the youth of Hawaii. To have TWO summer camps, for boys and girls, fantastic. Gib, you have made a great connection with Hawaii’s parents and young basketball athletes. Have fun!

Nice for the young ones to see the returning UH athletes like Isaac, Christian and Davis, giving back to a growing and great future fanbase and possible UH MBB and WBB players!

Once again, Chris, Gib, staff, and athletes, great, great job!

    Aloha and Mahalo.

    Uhfanzonly1.

  2. Correction to above post, I should say THIRD camp! Great job and extra aloha, keep up the good work, and look forward to the young ones attending UH games at SSC.

With Gib , Ben Jay, SSC and UH, should work to have a super youth rooter (with parents or guardian)section, special discounts and 2 for 1 deals, for certain games, like Saturdays. I am sure, a lot of kids, if affordable for parent and young ones would come out to see 6 or 7 or more home games.

Possibility? A Youth Manoa Maniac section with special discounts and prizes!

    Uhfanzonly1.

P.S. Gib , cannot wait to see Jamie Smith working with you all getting the students and youth coming out to suppor Rainbow Warrior Basketball. Gib go for it. Take UH MBB to greater heights!!

  3. As Soon As Possible,

The “Whole Team” could (should) be disclosing or even helping to create and Connect With “The Next” Dyrbe Enos, Julian Sensley or Red Rocha: Hawaiʻiʻs Next D-1 or NBA Talent…

…and otherwise building the Hawaiʻi Knowledge Base and Future Dedicated FAN Base
    (As UHF pointed out…)

    ———————–

Manoa Summer League ʻmaybeʻ ought to have one or two (Mid-Season) All-Star Games
(Although the way ʻsome teamsʻ pick up players, that might be similar to the play-offs…

UNLVʻs Bennett #1 in NBA Draft, huh?
In Three Years, ISAAC, maybe Negus et.al., could be Picks as well…
