Warriors work out at the Event Center

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The Hawai’i basketball team arrived safely in San Jose on Thursday night, and after a night of rest, the Warriors got to practice in the Event Center on Friday night.

Hawai’i will play a Western Athletic Conference road game against San Jose State in the Event Center on Saturday evening (4 p.m. Hawai’i time). The Warriors are 12-9 overall and tied for third place in the WAC at 4-3. The Spartans are 7-15 overall and in last place in the eight-team conference at 0-7.

“Real nice,” freshman Shaquille Stokes said after taking his first shots in the 5,000-seat arena. “One of the best places so far in the WAC, I think.”

The Warriors went through a short but intense practice on Thursday night, and will get another shootaround in the arena on Friday morning.

After Thursday’s practice, the Warriors ate dinner together at a restaurant near the team hotel.

“We’re here on business,” Hawai’i head coach Gib Arnold said. “We’re doing what we need to get ready for the game, and that’s it.”
