Super Bowl picks

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The Hawai’i basketball team has a big game coming up on Saturday, when the Warriors play a Western Athletic Conference road game at San Jose State.

But there’s also a pretty big sporting event coming up on Sunday, and like the rest of the nation, the Warriors have their differing opinions on which team is going to win the Super Bowl. In a poll of nine players, six of them picked the New England Patriots to beat the New York Giants on Sunday.

Senior point guard Miah Ostrowski, who is also a receiver for the Hawai’i football team, said he likes the Patriots because quarterback “Tom Brady is a beast.”

Unfortunately for the Warriors, Sunday will be a travel day and they are scheduled to arrive in Honolulu around 1:30 p.m. — when the Super Bowl starts. Ostrowski said he’ll have his family pick him up at the airport so that he can go straight to a party to watch the game.

Of course, the bigger game for the Warriors is on Saturday. Hawai’i is 12-9 overall and alone in third place in the WAC at 4-3. Utah State and Idaho were tied with the Warriors for third earlier in the week, but both lost on Thursday.

The Warriors need a win against the winless Spartans (0-7 WAC, 7-15 overall), to stay on the heels of first-place Nevada and second place New Mexico State.

The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. (Hawai’i time) at the Event Center in San Jose. The game will not be televised.

  1. UGLY … But BIG Comeback in the Second Half …

Then similar to many recent games, stayed ahead; couldn’t always stay out of range of a long, late shot…but, again managed to win another close one… lately they’ve usually been close…(Win or Lose)

Make More Free-Throws and we should be able to avoid a future possible long bomb loss…

Time to Start Winning some games by “Safe” Margins … More “Laugher Wins” would be o.k., too [Fans don’t always “Need Drama”]
