What will the Warriors do at Hoopfest?
Last year, it was a battle of the hakas between the players and the coaches.
This year, it will be a surprise.
The Hawaii basketball team is working on a secret routine for the ‘Ohana Hoopfest on Friday night, Oct. 21.
“I can’t tell you, you just gotta be there,” junior forward Joston Thomas said. “I have to keep you in suspense.”
Freshman point guard Shaquille Stokes gave a little bit of a hint, stating: “I’m going to be dancing, I know that for sure.”
Will the Warriors be doing a hip-hop dance routine? The hula? Maybe another version of the haka?
The only way to find out for sure is to attend the ‘Ohana Hoopfest on Friday night. It is scheduled to start around 9:15 p.m., following the UH women’s volleyball match.
In addition to the dance routine, the Warriors will also participate in a celebrity game, that is expected to draw several “big-name” stars. Hawaii head coach Gib Arnold did not want to reveal any names just yet, but said the celebrities would include “well-known actors, singers and professional athletes.”
Admission for the Hoopfest is free, although fans who also want to watch the volleyball match earlier in the evening will have to buy a ticket.
