More highlights from open gym
Open gym highlights are kind of like summer league. If you’re a fan of defense, get ready to cringe.
Still, the open gym scrimmages give the Hawaii basketball team a chance to stay in shape until official practices start a month from now.
The above video features highlights from two different sessions.
Of note: Joston Thomas appears to be quicker and leaner than he was a year ago (check out some of the dribble-drive dunks in the video); Trevor Wiseman is attacking the basket with more aggression than a year ago; this was Vander Joaquim’s first open gym sessions with his new teammates; Zane Johnson still has not been participating in the scrimmages due to an ankle injury.
Thanks for the video, Dayton. Way to whet everyone’s appetites for the upcoming season. Agree in your assessments of Joston and Trevor; saw evidence of it at the summer league. Bobby Miles also seems more comfortable; still needs to tighten his ballhandling, but he’s playing with more confidence. Hope Johnson’s ankle isn’t a recurring thing; it’s been a while since he injured it.
Joston is going to have a big year.
Worried about Zane. Hope he’s 100% by the beginning of practice.
