Bill and Zane’s Excellent Awards Banquet

WarriorInsider.com once again turned to Bill Amis and Zane Johnson to bring the hijinks to a Hawaii basketball team function.

This time, Amis and Johnson let loose on “the green carpet,” interviewing guests prior to the team’s awards banquet at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom.

Among the interviewees were banquet chairwoman and UH basketball super fan Ruth Ono, radio play-by-play man Bobby Curran, Addison Arnold (one of the head coach’s sons), and a couple of the Rainbow Warrior Dancers.

Amis and Johnson were the two leading scorers on the team this past season, and among the questions they asked was “Who is your favorite player?” The Warrior getting the most votes was … Miah Ostrowski.

For the record, Amis took the top honor – the Art Woolaway Most Outstanding Player Award.

Ostrowski received the Ah Chew Goo Most Inspirational Award; Johnson won the Best Free Throw Shooter and was also recognized for winning a WAC Player of the Week award and for being named to the WAC All-Newcomer Team.

  4. Hi Dayton. Do you know whether UH/Gib will allow the returnees and newcomers to play in the Manoa summer league?

  5. Haven’t heard anything about Summer League yet.

  6. Besides being good basketball players, these two guys seem to be enjoying themselves with the interviews. That’s great. I’m glad Bill was voted the outstanding player. He paid his dues all these years. Thanks and good luck to Bill.

  7. Can anyone tell me more about the Manoa Summer League? My boyfriend is interested and we’re trying to find out how he can sign up. Thank you!
