Amis preparing for pro tryouts
All Bill Amis wants is a chance.
A chance to play professional basketball … anywhere. It is the same attitude that transformed him from a sixth-man in junior college to an all-conference forward for the Hawaii basketball team, so don’t bet against him.
Amis recently signed with an agent in hopes of securing workouts and interviews with professional teams. The 6-foot-9 forward just completed his senior season with the Hawaii basketball team, but has continued to train with strength and conditioning manager Chris McMillan.
“I’d like to get as many NBA workouts as I can; it’s good to have on the resume,” he said. “Hopefully there’s not a lockout and maybe I can play in the Summer League in Vegas.”
Amis signed with California-based agent Ben Pensack, who also represents former UH players Matt Lojeski, Matt Gibson and Troy Ostler.
Amis said he will train at UH until the end of the current school semester, which ends in mid-May.
Good luck Bill. Thanks for hanging in there all these years.
