Who’s Next?
Framed NBA jerseys align the office walls of Hawaii basketball coach Gib Arnold, each one representing a player he either coached or recruited who eventually made it to the professional level.
Among the names are O.J. Mayo, Demar Derozan and Nick Young.
But perhaps the most significant jersey in his office is the University of Hawaii jersey that sits behind his desk. Instead of an actual name, the nameplate says “Who’s Next?”
“It’s a reminder to our guys that we want them to think big and have aspirations to be the best,” Arnold said. “Every time the guys come in here, I tell them I’d like to hang your jersey up here one day. It would be an honor, but obviously it takes a lot of hard work.”
