Forwards DeShawn Stephens (photo, No. 23) and Ronnie Stevens made recruiting visits to Hawaii on the weekend of Oct. 15-16.

DeShawn Stephens, who is 6 feet 8 and 215 pounds, said he enjoyed the festivities of the ‘Ohana Hoopfest. “First midnight madness, so it was a good experience,” he said.

Of course, he also made time to test the warm waters at Waikiki Beach.

“I got in the water and scratched up my feet a little bit on the coral,” he said. “But it was fun.”

Stephens said Hawaii will be the last school he will visit, and it is one of four schools he is considering. He previously visited three schools – Long Beach State, San Diego State and Utah State.

Stephens is about to start his sophomore season at Santa Monica Community College (Calif.).

Ronnie Stevens, who is 6-9 and 225 pounds, was not feeling well during his visit so could not fully enjoy the festivities. He said Hawaii is still high on his list of choices, although he still plans to visit Cal State Northridge next week.

Stevens is about to begin his senior season at Serra High School in Gardena, Calif.

Warriorinsider.com previously reported that Damiene Cain was also going to visit Hawaii on Oct. 15, but that trip was postponed.

  1. We apologize for the video being so dark (but don’t you think it adds to the “Insider” theme?).

  2. postponed means at another time or date. so is damiene cain still planning to trip?

  3. Yes, Damiene is considering his trip postponed for now. He said Hawaii is still on his list and he would like to reschedule. It’s up to UH coaches to decide.

  4. from the sounds of stephens on your video he didn’t seem to be so excited about hawaii. hopefully, the other stevens decides here. at least cain was honest and didn’t just take the free waikiki beach tour as many will.

i am still waiting for a brazilian to show up at the airport.

  5. From the youtube video Stephens looked really long and athletic sorta like Gueye several years back. Woulda fit in nicely. Someone answer me this, why would anyone pick Logan-Utah over Honolulu?
