Amis switching numbers this season

After experiencing a season of hard luck last year, Bill Amis is turning to his lucky number this year.

Amis will change his jersey number this season, opting for 4 instead of 41.

“With all the changing, I figured I throw a change in there,” the senior forward said, referring to the coaching changes in the program, as well as an influx of new recruits.

Amis said 4 has always been his favorite number, in part because his full name is Wilburn Davis Amis IV.

He joined the Hawaii basketball program in 2007, and wore jersey number 41 for the past three seasons in honor of his favorite player, Dirk Nowitzki.

“I’m more of a Kevin Durant fan now,” Amis said with a laugh.

Amis redshirted last season due to an injured foot. He is one of three seniors on this season’s roster.

  1. Wilburn! Why wasnʻt this made public earlier? Great name. Will be nice to see him play a full season healthy.

  2. Good stuff!

  3. In Japan and China #4 is unlucky number no baseball players wears one that I know of.

Kanji character ‘Shi’ = 4 means death.

    Now 41 = 4 + 1 = 5 Reads ‘Go’ in Kanji Character.

We await your New Wilburn Character and a New Team to ‘Go’ = 5 with it.

    Go Wilburn!
